Anthony Vaccarello delivered another edgy collection with super short shorts, sparkly jackets, statement hats, riding boots and leather blazers that were inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s Ballets Russes – the Russian collection.
Makeup had to match the dark modernity and Tom Pecheux created a powerful and ultra feminine look with some models sporting a striking geometric eye design. Below Pecheux shares his inspiration behind Saint Laurent FW18 beauty look.
Where did you get your inspiration from?
This look is the result of a creative exchange with Anthony. It is the natural continuation of what Saint Laurent has done in the past and yet it is also an evolution, a look into the future. Think of it as an additional stone to a dream castle.
Can you talk us through how to achieve it?
Use Or Rouge Huile Voluptueuse to prep the skin and Top Secrets Instant Moisture Glow to add luminosity. Then the new foundation Touche Eclat All-In-One Flow for perfected natural coverage. The lips moisturised with Volupte Night Rehab Lip Masl. Finally, after curling the lashes, I have created a sophisticated, punk, graphic eye look extended towards the outer corner of the eye with the new Couture Chalks – Le Noir from the Fall Look 2018. Powerful cat eye brightened in the inner coners by a grey silver eyeshadow from the Couture Palette No1 Tuxedo.
What is your must have product from this Fall makeup look?
Definitely, the Couture Chalks.
What makes this look a YSL signature?
Whilst respecting women’s individuality, this look shows their beauty at it’s best. It has all the power of the YSL woman.

Yves Saint Laurent Honored With Two New Museums
A reconstructed lace dress inspired by lingerie in pearl blush opened the Stella McCartney FW18 show in Paris which also saw the official launch of menswear.
McCartney presented at the Opéra Garnier which centered around oversized boxy coats, deconstructed knitwear, play on fabric and undone silhouettes. There is a skill to creating pieces that not only standout on the runway, but are also wearable and McCartney has those in abundance with her structured and precise design that works well across both women’s and men’s range.
The all-white ensembles will strike a chord with fans of minimalism and there were plenty of beautifully fluffy faux fur coats for winter, but it’s the postcard prints and floor length dresses with women motif worn under sheer lace trim layers that stood out the most. Among the tailored jackets were also wrap knits that swept the floor and would be ideal of the sub zero temperatures sweeping across Europe at the moment.
The wide use of lace added romance to the collection while the loose shapes felt contemporary and fitting for how woman want to dress now. All the glamour with no fuss.

Following the 90th Academy Awards, the stars headed to the annual Vanity Fair Oscars Party 2018 and of course they all wore a completely new outfit.
The celebrations continued with more standout gowns, sparkling dresses and statement accessories. The red carpet at Vanity Fair felt stronger than the Oscars with celebrities strutting in flowing creations from brands like Ralph & Russo and Christian Siriano.
There was a lot of transparency, feminine silhouettes, pastel tones and more black dresses which could be a nod to the ‘Time’s Up’ movement that was not seen during the Academy Awards. New Chanel ambassador Margot Robbie wore another romantic gown from the Maison while Olivia Wilde dazzled in a sensual creation from Roberto Cavalli.

Standout Beauty Looks At Oscars 2018
You’ve seen the gowns, admired the jewellery and applauded the winners but the flawless beauty looks also deserve noting.
Oscars 2018 celebrated 90 years and with it came a dazzling red carpet which snapped the best dressed and gave us a closer glimpse at celebrities’ glowing complexion, bold eyes and latest hair trends.
Margot Robbie showcased a bold bob which was also sported by Saoirse Ronan. The modern cut feels fresh, youthful and versatile. The standout up-do was spotted on Lupita Nyong’o where hairstylist Vernon François wrapped the braids up to the crown and added a gold thread. Nyong’o was also one of many celebrities championing colourful eye makeup with a sweep of blue eyeshadow, while Emma Stone had a lilac line drawn along the lash line with touches of rose gold eyeshadow on the lids. Zendaya opted for a bronze smokey eye and Margot Robbie had a dusting of gold shimmer added to her lids.
Many chose a nude lip but it was the caramel hue on Jennifer Lawrence that elevated the whole look and complimented her sun-kissed skin. Nicole Kidman chose a classic rouge and Gal Gadot had a deeper berry tone to her lips which worked well with extra long lashes.

Today, Clare Waight Keller presented a decadently powerfully collection for Givenchy FW18 in Paris.
It takes a strong character to wear Givenchy and that was felt in Waight Keller’s designs, especially in the bold-shoulder tailoring, graphic prints, broad faux fur coats and a wide use of leather in jackets, trousers, suits and dresses.
The first half offered every-day separates with high neck knitwear with zigzag patterning, structured leather that had an undone cut to them and fluid skirts – all referencing the codes of the house but minus the stiffness. The men’s collection also felt stronger this time round and unlike some designers who clearly divide the two, there was uniformity in the colour palette and silhouettes delivering a clear Givenchy voice.
The second half felt the strongest with eveningwear having a sense of grace and dignity but with a touch of cool when styled with point toe scrunched boots. Cue the burgundy dress with lace paneling, long sleeve sequin gown and a two-tone black and white dress with the dreamiest skirt adorned in fringing. Despite the looser fit, there was a precision in the cut that evoked strength and modernity – fitting for today’s customer. The final dresses were almost avant-garde with frilled pleated layers moving with every step and catching the light, as though they’re reflecting the moonlight at midnight.

Ahead of the red carpet extravaganza tonight, we revisit some of the finest gowns and suits from Oscars 2017.
The Academy Awards will be celebrating 90 years and there’s a rumour going around that the stage will be dressed in 45 million Swarovski crystals. We expect the red carpet to be just as dazzling, but with the recent awards ceremonies like the BAFTA’s and the Golden Globes showcasing an all-black dress code in honour of the ‘Time’s Up’ movement, are we expecting the same at the Oscars?
According to reports, no such dress code has been issued- instead there will be pins for various causes that guests can attach to their outfits or accessories. This is a subtle way to show support, however with the current noise being made in Hollywood we won’t be surprised to see majority of the nominees and attendees sporting all-black ensembles, after all nothing makes a statement and shows solidarity like a sea of the same colour parading in front of the flashing camera’s.
Last year it was a different affair with many choosing shades of white and gold and plenty of sparkle. Click through the gallery above for some of our favourite looks and be sure to come back for our roundup of the best dressed from this years’ awards.

Today Elie Saab FW18 showcased a darkly romantic collection at the Grand Palais, full of whimsical floral prints offering an enchanting evening wardrobe.
Saab knows how to make ready to wear look extra luxurious with maximum embroidery, intense embellishment, elaborate lace and extreme shapes. The fall collection spoke of dark romance with miniature floral print decorating black chiffon dresses, lace gowns and a long coat with a fur collars. This dramatic pairing was also seen in the mix of textures like feathers almost bleeding over the sheer layers or embellished jumper styled with a frilled flamenco skirt.
The sequins was bold and daring cropping up in almost every single look, some made even more sensual when styled with over-the knee boots. The romance came into play in a form of feminine silhouettes, flowing fabric and soft pastel hues that broke up an over all dark colour palette. The dresses stole the show but there were also strong tailored pieces like the velvet blazer with gold beading, statement knitwear, and accessories such as wide belts that further exaggerated the waistline.
Saab’s dark flourish will hit all the right notes with the fans of the brand who look to him for dramatically powerful pieces – because who wouldn’t want to chase the midnight hour in a mohair sweater with oversized crystal bows styled with a decadent lace blouse, evening trousers and leather boots?

Graphic prints, clothes that make you want to move and plenty of statement accessories – welcome to Chloe FW18 world.
The second collection for Natacha Ramsay-Levi harmoniously flowed from the SS18 range and once again we saw the bohemian Chloe girl with a modern edge. Ramsay-Levi presented loosely structured buckled coats, laid back tailoring in deep red, lace high neck shirts, paisley print reflecting her first collection, low necklines and dreamy flowing silhouettes. She added charm through detail like ruffles, embellishment while the hairy texture on bomber jackets, skirts and down the hemline of trousers added a western touch.
Delicate knitwear was accented with wide gold cuffs on wrists and above the elbow while the flared trousers were toughened up with zippers placed low on the thighs. Logo’s reading Chloe were spotted on the knitted socks, while wide collars and roll necks carried a graphic print motif echoing the 60’s.
Despite the feminine air, the shoes remained tough with lace-up heeled walking booties, pointed toe ankle boots in an array of printed fabric with metallic heels. The bags were double strapped, some with the horse motif seen on her jackets during the SS18 show, while other leather goods included large travel bags – some that wouldn’t look out of place on a stylish hitchhiker journeying through the Arizona desert.
Free-spirited, wild but ever so chic – never have we wanted to be a Chloe girl more than now.

Tonal dressing, or wearing multiple shades of the same colour or styling the same hue head to toe, has become one of the key trends to emerge from Fall 2018 collections so far.
There is something elegant and chic about sporting the same colour palette. It gives you a polished look with minimum effort. The uniformity of this style evokes a feeling of confidence as it’s not every day you can wear head to toe yellow and feel like a fashion superstar.
Spotted at Tibi, Jil Sander and Rochas, colour coding your wardrobe is sure fast way to guarantee a flawless look in no time. Play with textures to prevent it looking one dimensional and go big on statement accessories to elevate an outfit further. If you want to add a print, leopard spots work best with camel tones as seen at Max Mara and if you find bold shades of red and green too intense, add neutral colours like beige to counterbalance. Little shimmer goes a long way so try breaking tonal dressing up by mixing grey with silver and brown and bronze

Top Beauty Moments From MFW FW18 Shows
Want to recreate one of the standout beauty looks spotted backstage at Milan Fashion Week? Dolce & Gabbana FW18 collection centered around Fashion Devotion: a play on contrasts and the expression of a new sense of fashion, lead by the distinctive personalities of the Millennials.
This inspiration was reflected throughout the make-up; youthful, fresh and natural yet fully contrasted. Eyes were the focus and designed to look elegant and alluring. They were enhanced with brown beige tones and graphic liner flicks drawn and blurred in a colour close to black yet softer, to keep it natural.
A flawless and natural-looking, glowing skin was achieved with the Perfect Matte Liquid Foundation blended outward from the center of the face, and the Perfect Luminous Concealer softly dabbed on shadowed areas to get extra radiance. The complexion displayed a natural flush, created using the Creamy Blush in rosy shade Rosa Calizia 20. For added glow to the fresh-faced look, a bit of texture of the Creamy Illuminator in Rosa Del Mattino 60 was softly smudged over the apples of the cheeks and up towards the ears.
On the lips, models wore perfectly tailor-made shades: a mix of Classic Cream Lipstick in Mandorla 125, a nude with a porcelain pink undertone and Goddess 140, a neutral burnished pink, or a mix of red-hued Classic Cream Lipstick from vibrant reds, as Devil 620 or Scarlett 625, to more intense and darker tones as Black Magic 630 and Ultra 650.
Nails are natural, painted with The Nail Lacquer in Bella 210 and Pink 220 to complement the beauty look. Click through the gallery above for the full makeup kit used backstage at the Dolce & Gabbana FW18 show.
