Prepare your shopper bags and get ready for some retail therapy, here are this season’s hottest summer trends. From powerful colour blocks and shiny metallics to the ultimate power suit, this is the trio of must-have looks for your wardrobe.

1. White Power Suit

When we look back at Gigi Hadid’s tailored suit from 2018, we realise that the white suit is THE power suit to rule all, and we are so glad it’s back this season. White is an essential colour for a summer wardrobe, it’s fresh, bright and reflects the sun perfectly. White can be worn for many different occasions and on many different skin tones making it a versatile colour indeed. It’s sweet and angelic but wearing a tailored suit in this colour makes a bold statement and presents a sense of absolute power. Who can forget Meghan Markle’s 2022 Invictus Games ensemble? The subtle flare of the Valentino trousers paired perfectly over her white shoes, screamed divine style, confidence and elegance. We have seen many designers incorporating tailoring into this season’s collections, including Fendi who featured multiple white tailored designs in its Spring 22 ready-to-wear collection. We think it’s a strong look when paired as a two-piece, but if you find it a challenge keeping the colour at its cleanest, a simple white blazer with denim is a great place to start.

2. Colour Block

As spring sets in and flowers come into full bloom, it’s the perfect opportunity to add a splash of colour to your wardrobe. We are totally crushing on Blake Lively’s orange ensemble and love how she has paired a bright yellow Louis Vuitton bag and striking blue earrings with it. As we see from the style icon, this colour block craze is all about choosing the most daring shades on the colour wheel and pairing them together with confidence. Jacquemus is renowned for bringing colour to its collections, and we were not disappointed with this year’s Spring ready-to-wear collection. The green and blue combination gives us the feeling of being laid out on freshly cut grass with the summer sky above us. For another burst of inspiration, check out the Versace Spring/Summer 22, with not a boring colour in sight, it’s a sign that more of this vibrant trend is on the way. If the thought of a head-to-toe clash of colours has you reaching for your little black dress though, then not to worry, even choosing some vibrant accessories can add a fresh new twist to a darker outfit.

3. Liquid Metallics

This year’s red carpets have seen many celebrities have taking to the red carpet in shimmering dresses and metallic ensembles, a favourite of ours was Eva Longoria’s metallic mirrored gown at Cannes Film Festival. We have been inspired to add some glitz and glamour to this trend roundup and a touch of sparkle can never go a miss in a summer wardrobe. We normally think of disco ball outfits during December’s festive season, covering ourselves in sequins for the celebration, but this year why not try adding some metallics into your summer wardrobe too.  We can see from the Fendi Spring/Summer 22 runway that this brand has incorporated metallics in a new way, opting for a more foiled metallic material that is lighter in weight and much more subtle in comparison to sequins. We predominantly think of metallics as being gold or silver and worn in the evening, but try adding some colourful silk blouses like the Tom Ford Spring/Summer 22 collection to your daywear for a hint of shimmer and sparkle.
