The latest edition of the Women’s Arab Fashion week kicked off on Thursday 24th March with a beautiful range of collections on show from both international and regional designers.

The bi-annual event has been coordinated by the Arab Fashion Council and is taking place at Dubai Design District (d3).  With the support of the Arab Fashion Council, the event is helping to pave the way for Dubai to be recognised as one of the world’s global fashion hubs.

The Women’s Arab Fashion week event will showcase exquisite couture designs and ready-to-wear collections for Fall/Winter 22/23. This month’s edition will present the greatest number of Arab designers from across the MENA region to date and will focus on inclusivity and diversity.

Ahead of the opening night, Khadija Al Bastaki, Executive Director of Dubai Design District (d3), said: “We are delighted to kick off the Fall-Winter 2022/23 of Women’s Arab Fashion Week here at d3 and bring an exciting and groundbreaking showcase of couture and ready-to-wear womenswear to our community, the region and global stage. Our partnership with the Arab Fashion Council is a significant one and together we are committed to the sustainable growth of our region’s fashion industry. Our region’s fashion industry is entering a new stage of impact on the global stage, and we are excited to support and nurture it further and help take it to even greater audiences. At d3, we always strive to enable our diverse creative community and encourage collaboration, innovation and rethinking the regular, cementing Dubai as a global creative and fashion capital.”

The event will have a focus on diversity with Ameni Esseibi, Tunisian-Dubai-based model, being named the Council’s first Curvy ambassador. Commenting on the title, model, actress and documentary filmmaker Farida Khelfa said, “Diversity is reality and Ameni is a part of it.”

The runway shows kicked off on Thursday 24th March with a couture collection by Egyptian designer Maram Borham. Models wore Maram’s detailed wedding dresses, skilfully hand-crafted using the finest fabrics and embroidery. The runway continued with collections from designers Giannina Azar from the Dominican Republic and Ihab Jiryis from Palestine. Over the weekend we will see a celebration of designers from around the world, including Lebanon, England, Saudi Arabia and Italy. The finale show, on Monday 28th March, will see our very own UAE based brand Amato on the ready-to-wear catwalk.
