The Arab Fashion Council has appointed Amina Taher as its new Chairwoman, ushering in a new chapter for the organisation that has spent the past decade establishing the Arab world as an increasingly influential force within the global fashion industry.

Over the past decade, the Arab Fashion Council has played a pivotal role in transforming the region’s fashion industry, helping establish Dubai Fashion Week, championing emerging designers and positioning Arab creativity on the global stage. Now, as it enters a new phase of growth, the organisation has appointed Amina Taher as its new Chairwoman. Taher succeeds at a time when the Council is looking to deepen its influence through stronger institutional, government and international partnerships.

With more than two decades of experience across aviation, fintech, media and sport, Taher has built a reputation as one of the region’s leading figures in brand strategy, communications and public affairs. Her previous roles include senior positions at Etihad Airways, where she helped strengthen relationships with global fashion weeks, and Wio Bank, where she served as Chief Marketing Officer.

“Few leaders move with equal fluency across government, industry, and culture, and fewer still bring that fluency to the service of design,” said Jacob Abrian, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Fashion Council. “The Council has already placed Arab creativity where it belongs, at the centre of the global conversation. Amina Taher’s appointment is not a change of direction. It is a recognition of the standing the Council now holds.”

Taher adds: “The Arab Fashion Council has played a defining role in positioning Dubai as the region’s leading fashion hub and creating a platform for Arab designers to gain global recognition,” she said. “Over the past decade, it has built the institutions, partnerships and international credibility that have transformed the region’s fashion industry. I am honoured to build on that strong foundation.”

Looking ahead, she believes collaboration will be key to the Council’s continued success. “Together with our partners across government, industry and the creative community, we have an opportunity to further strengthen the Council’s impact, support the continued growth of the creative economy, and create even greater opportunities for the next generation of Arab designers to thrive on the global stage.”

Taher will formally present her vision for the organisation at an invitation-only gala in September, where she is expected to unveil the manifesto that will guide the Arab Fashion Council’s next chapter.
