In a spellbinding display of artistry, CHANEL unveiled its 2024/25 Métiers d’art collection at the picturesque West Lake in Hangzhou, China.

This collection, an homage to Gabrielle Chanel’s enduring love for antique Coromandel screens and the allure of distant lands, beautifully marries tradition and innovation in the most enchanting of settings.

Drawing from the historic and artistic richness of Hangzhou, the collection reinterprets the motifs and textures of Coromandel screens into contemporary couture. Gabrielle Chanel’s study walls at 31 Rue Cambon once showcased these lacquered treasures, which served as a canvas for this season’s designs. Their scenes of serene life along West Lake are brought to life through CHANEL’s signature elegance.

The collection is a testament to the unparalleled savoir-faire of CHANEL’s Métiers d’art ateliers, housed at le19M. This collaborative artistry is highlighted in every stitch, pleat, and detail. For the occasion, filmmaker Wim Wenders wove this narrative into a film featuring CHANEL ambassadors Tilda Swinton, Leah Dou, and Xin Zhilei, adding cinematic poetry to the presentation.

The collection’s silhouettes span the glamorous spectrum of day and nightwear, with a focus on layering and tactile sophistication. Long coats in tweed, satin, and velvet exude mystery, while shorter duffle coats and jackets, adorned with intricate frogging and silk linings, evoke understated luxury. The details—pagoda sleeves, mandarin collars, and luminescent embroidery—echo an aesthetic inspired by Chinese artistry.

Structured jackets paired with pleated skirts or culottes offer versatile elegance, while travel bags and knitwear emblazoned with Coromandel motifs nod to the collection’s globetrotting spirit. Delicate camellia and lotus embroideries pay homage to nature, as do the jade green, pink, and sky blue hues that evoke lacquerwork brilliance.

Eveningwear in this collection transcends the ordinary. Gold lace dresses, cloud-like pearl necklaces, and ethereal pyjamas encapsulate a dreamlike serenity. Lace inlays, floral motifs, and ruffled details lend a sensual allure, while thigh boots, pointed slippers, and mid-calf boots complete the looks with a bold yet comfortable finish.

With its blend of craftsmanship, innovation, and storytelling, the CHANEL 2024/25 Métiers d’art collection offers more than just fashion—it invites an inner journey. Through the lens of culture, history, and art, CHANEL takes us from Paris to Hangzhou, weaving dreams and memories into every piece.

This collection reaffirms CHANEL’s legacy as a maison of artistry and exploration, celebrating beauty in all its forms while inviting the world to revel in its romance.
