As we celebrate Emirati Women’s Day Fatma AlHashimi, Founder of HASHIMI shares what this day means to her.
What does celebrating Emirati Women’s Day mean to you?
It’s a day that celebrates the achievements and successes of every Emirati mother, sister and daughter in this country. It’s important to recognise the achievements of all the strong women who have contributed to building and sustaining this great nation.
How would you assess the journey of Emirati women so far in terms of their achievements?
We are privileged to have a multitude of opportunities and support for the empowerment of women in the UAE, which we can thank our leaders for. It’s incredible to see what Emirati women have achieved in the short history of our nation. Emirati women are so incredibly supportive of each other, always lifting each other up, and I believe this has also contributed to our success.
What is your biggest achievement so far?
That would definitely be my family followed by my fashion label.
As an Emirati woman what do you still aim to achieve?
I aim to raise my kids to the best of my ability and for my brand to reach international markets.
What is your personal motto?
Life is a journey. Learn and grow from every experience.
Who is a woman that inspires you?
I would say my mum! She inspires me to be the best version of myself.
What is a message you would send to Emirati ladies on this day of celebration?
Dream big! Nothing is impossible until it’s done.
