Fashion Forward Season 9 has come to a close and, once again, it proved to be a great showcase for regional talent, giving designers a chance to present their work on a global stage to increase awareness of their brand in wider markets.
Below we take a look at some of the highlights from day 2 of the proceedings…
Ghudfa
Ghudfa, the luxurious abaya and ready-to-wear line, was created in 2013 and caters to the elegant and classic lady. The designer Sarah Albaz was born and raised in Riyadh and plays on intricate details, luxurious fabrics and a high-end finish to create their point of difference.

The AW17 collection was called Parallel, where Albaz was inspired by the softness of clouds, the architectural edginess of skyscrapers, the femininity of the curves of orchids and the stability of rocks as they get hit by the waves.

The collection was executed in pure silk, satin crepe, jacquard organza and lace in a palette of black and white with soft highlights of light grey and pale pink. The shapes were flowing and free with tailoring influences adding interest to the silhouettes.

The collection for this season was named MISTY ROMANCE and had a sweet, light atmosphere with a dark turn. Cheyma took inspiration from powerful but mischievous women, with an aura of haziness and mystery executed in Cheyma’s signature feminine style in pink hues. An eye print was a focus of the range and key materials included silk, jersey and denim.
