Saint Laurent Reveals its Spring 2023 Men’s Collection

Saint Laurent travelled to the desert close to Marrakech to present the Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection with a spectacular presentation.

Anthony Vaccarello’s collection celebrated the blurred lines between masculinity and femininity and had clear retro influences, taking inspiration from the seventies and eighties eras.

Marrakech has been a city that the brand holds close to its heart since the moment Yves Saint Laurent discovered it in 1966. It became a home away from home for the designer and a place to escape the business of Parisian life.

The show’s impressive setting honoured the beauty and landscape of Morocco and was inspired by “The Sheltering Sky”, a novel 1949 novel by Paul Bowles. Set in the middle of the desert the show was centred around a large ring-shaped structure; an oasis in the barren landscape.

The tuxedo, one of the brand’s iconic pieces was reinterpreted as Vaccarello with new feminine influences building on the silhouette that was explored in the women’s Autumn/Winter 2022 collection. The new shape featured a new colour and shoulders, single and double-breasted options and a new cream iteration of the tuxedo in a lightweight silk faille.

Throughout the collection the silhouette features a high waist and wide leg, creating an elongated shape, occasionally interrupted with narrow or boxy accents. There is a more relaxed feel, reflecting the mood and life of Marrakech.
