For her spring summer 2016 collection Madiyah Al Sharqi, renowned for her modern take on feminine dressing takes us back to the 1970s. Al Sharqi’s trademark look is reinterpreted to channel some of the most iconic silhouettes of the era. While Al Sharqi’s aesthetic of clean lines and feminine details is very much still on show this season, pieces from the range echo 1970s references. There are flared trousers, elegant off-the-shoulder blouses and high, ruffled necklines.

The colour palette includes: delicate peach, blush, ivory and mint. The most exaggerated silhouettes are executed in a light, fresh and feminine way. Evening dresses, spliced together in geometric panels of silk crepe and sheer lace, have an ethereal quality and a subtle, sensual mood. Standout pieces from the range include a pale mint-hued cape, crafted from fine tulle and featuring an iconic 1970s palm-shaped embroidery.

A traditional tailored jacket takes on a new appeal in peach coloured silk crepe, with Al Sharqi’s playfulness bringing a youthful spirit and sense of fun to every look. A favourite with Middle Eastern and international fans alike, Madiyah Al Sharqi’s creations are often lauded for their use of intricate detailing and embellishment, and this season is no different. Using beaded and rope-embroidered fabrics, Al Sharqi brings to life a fresh appeal and a clean, linear and luxurious finish.
