Lebanese Film Director turned President of the Un Certain Regard Jury, Nadine Labaki earned herself another title during Cannes Film Festival 2019; style icon. And the Capernaum filmmaker wasn’t the only one who turned to the French fashion house to ensure they looked fitting for the annual event.
As the 72nd edition of Cannes Film Festival for 2019 kicked off on May 14th 2019, actors, directors as critics flew into the French city for the annual event. And when it came to gracing the red carpet for the festival, the first of the famous faces making appearance didn’t disappoint on the fashion front.
Fresh from throwing the grandeur Tiepolo Ball in Venice, Dior made another statement by dressing some of the biggest stars of the event for the red carpet. One of the most striking looks of the first day came from Nadine, who was taking up her position as the president of the Un Certain Regard jury at Cannes, becoming the first-ever Arab person to be granted the position. She wore a Dior Haute Couture night blue tull dress.
Julianne Moore, meanwhile, donned a Dior Haute Couture forest green silk chiffon dress, while Elle Fanning opted for a Dior Haute Couture ensemble composed of an ivory organza shirt with embroidered bib and full pant with black frogging.
For Amira Casar, the fashion house opted for a flounced dress with “circus animal” sequin embroidery, while Wu Ke-Xi wore a laminated silk evening gown in bronze, gold, wisteria, blue and Parma Violet and Lyna Khoudri opted for a black tulle gown.
