Milan Fashion Week AW17: Emilio Pucci

Leading up to the Emilio Pucci AW17 show today in Milan, the brand posted snaps of bold green, pink and orange to their Instagram account, giving the impression it was going to be a classic Pucci colourful affair; they certainly did not disappoint.

Pucci is renowned for their ’60’s style prints and pops of colour and today was no exception. The psychedelic runway set the tone that a fun time was to be had. The first models marched out in zesty lime green and were all sparkles; it was fantastically refreshing. Then swiftly followed hot pink and juicy orange creations. The shapes of the pieces mimicked their signature prints with their asymmetric silhouettes and cut-out sections. Then followed the prints themselves, made modern with colour-blocking half and quartiles of the dresses with black or white. Punctuating the colour-fest was a bold large scale zebra print knitted dress in black and white. Fringing was a key detail, it appeared dramatically dangling from arm cuffs, swinging on trouser legs and one dress was completely fringed in a stand-out hot pink colour.

Suiting was considered, although the metallic almost oil-slick print made the pieces more suitable for the disco than for any office. Of course, that’s exactly what the Pucci girl wants. And for the extravagant jet-setters, there were cosy printed blanket throws slung over shoulders and even printed luggage pieces that would definitely not get mixed up in the queue at baggage reclaim.

Pucci delivered a fun-filled and sparkling show that was especially sure to provide loyal fans with the perfect party dress this autumn-winter; it was refreshing to have this injection of zesty colour to brighten our lives and remind us fashion should be fun!
