Following the success of the inaugural Meet d3 last year, Dubai Design District’s annual festival returns for a second year, bringing together a broad cross-section of design, art and culture in celebration of the city’s rich array of creative talent.

Taking place from December 8-10, 2016, Meet d3 will continue the immersive and experiential format introduced last year, and showcase new and more creative expression from various design and multimedia disciplines. Building from the positive response of last year’s extensive programming, Meet d3 2016 is launching an open call to all creative minds across the UAE to be part of the second edition.

Open to designers and artists, Meet d3 is looking to enhance this year’s event with fresh and innovative ideas from the community for its installations section and across a broad range of design and artistic medium including painting, sculpture, installations, video, photography, architecture, fashion and design experiences. Any subject or theme is welcome, as long as the proposed project is experiential in nature, original and suitable for all ages.

Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi. Chief Operating Officer of d3 said: “After the positive response the first event had in April 2015 and the ongoing projects and events, which have now successfully placed d3 on Dubai’s map as the heart of design, we now encourage the UAE community to be a part of this second edition. Through submissions and innovative ideas, we aim to continue to elevate d3 as the home of design recognised throughout the region.”

He added: “With submissions and creative contributions from residents, designers, cultural enthusiasts and students, we aim to present this second Meet d3 event as an annual festival that will grow each year to inspire and engage. This will also serve to continue to inspire the wider community of Dubai to be a part of the diverse industry of creativity in the UAE and the region.”

All applications will be reviewed and curated into a series of installations, cutting-edge art and design pieces, designated market spaces for fashion and retail brands and musical performances by committee members. Open to the public and free to attend, the 2016 event will welcome a broader and more diverse programme of talent from all facets of the fine art industry, curated by d3 and corporate partnerships to create a unique experience that aims to better serve Dubai’s design community, as well as enrich homegrown businesses and creative entities.

Applications are open until May 31, 2016. For more information and to apply please visit www.meetd3.com
