It’s an exciting time for Nike and Balmain’s creative director Oliver Rousteing. They’ve just announced their collaboration and the launch of NikeLab x Oliver Rousteing: Football Nouveau. The collection combines the designer’s lust for the dark side with endless glamour and Nike’s advanced technical fabrics and concepts.
It’s been a year since the two have been working together. Rousteing told Vogue: “When I was a kid, I wore Nike! I was really proud that they came to me. When discussing his designs he added: “I love craftsmanship and va-va-voom. I really wanted gold and embroidery everywhere.”
As a result, the clothes are glamorous yet wearable sportswear. You can imagine lounging in them for a sporty and stylish weekend look; or hitting the gym in them; or perhaps wearing pieces as urban streetwear or general casual wear.
Rousteing mentioned his favourite creations are: “the body-con dress for the ladies—I am really proud of that; and the crop top, because it has a hip-hop dancer/singer feeling.” The man himself is also the best advertisement for the new collection. He stated: “I can’t wait to wear the hoodie for the men, with the gold piping and the gold swoosh!”
Available from June 2 on nike.com/nikelab and at select NikeLab stores.
