It’s the first move in 2017’s edition of fashion musical chairs. According to Reuters, though, creative director Clare Waight Keller has grown tired of fashion’s relentless pace these days and wants to spend more time with her family. According to the wire service, Keller is said to be sick of commuting from her home life in London (where she has three children) to her professional life in Paris.

After this upcoming season, Natacha Ramsay-Levi is rumoured to take the reigns. The French designer started making coffee for Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga. She told W magazine: “I applied for an internship in the studio in 2002. They told me that I would do nothing else but to make coffee and sort documents. But I did not care.” Now she is chief lieutenant at Louis Vuitton, and this was also a role she  filled during much of Ghesquière’s reign at Balenciaga as well. According to Reuters, Ramsay-Levi’s key roles at Louis Vuitton are both as Ghesquière’s “go-between” and the person who helps turn his design inspirations into actual clothes.

She is still under contract at Vuitton through the next collection so she won’t debut her first full collection for the brand until next Fall. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to watch Ghesquière’s right hand woman Ramsay-Levi express her own particular design point-of-view.
