The Duchess of Sussex has been making plenty of style statements during her short time as a British royal, but according to the Daily Mail she’s been banned from wearing a tuxedo on the upcoming tour of Australia.

Set to take place in October, the newspaper states that when Markle wanted to pick a masculine tuxedo from Stella McCartney for an evening event, Harry had to veto her choice –  probably because his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, prefers to see women traditionally in dresses and skirts. A source from the fashion team at Kensington Palace said:

“Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal. Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasn’t traditional enough.”

The Duchess has been seen in a number of tailored outfits, including the tour of Ireland and for the Endeavour Fund Awards’ Ceremony at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London.

The British newspaper also made a link between her fashion taste with the late Princess Diana who famously wore a tuxedo to a dog racing event at Wembley Stadium in 1988.

Let’s see if Meghan can find the balance between royal family’s strict fashion rules and her own taste.
