Here at a&e we are a little obsessed with the Obama’s. Most recently we admired the former First Lady in thigh high Balenciaga boots and now it’s the turn of her husband to share his annual cultural highlights.

Barack Obama

It has become a tradition for the former leader of the free world to publish his highlights from the realms of books, songs and films, and he continues this year with a post on Facebook writing:

“As 2018 draws to a close, I’m continuing a favourite tradition of mine and sharing my year-end lists. It gives me a moment to pause and reflect on the year through the books, movies, and music that I found most thought-provoking, inspiring, or just plain loved. It also gives me a chance to highlight talented authors, artists, and storytellers – some who are household names and others who you may not have heard of before. Here’s my best of 2018 list – I hope you enjoy reading, watching, and listening.”

As ever supportive of his wife Michelle, he listed her bestselling memoir Becoming as his favourite book. He also included the critically acclaimed Educated by Tara Westover and Feel Free by Zadie Smith.

Barack Obama included Annihilation and Black Panther as his movies of 2018 and showed his support the music power couple Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z, their song Apes••t in particular. He also noted I Like It by Cardi B and Love Lies by Khalid & Normani.
