The sixth edition of Downtown Design, part of Dubai Design Week, will present its most diverse and ambitious showcase to date, featuring over 175 exhibiting brands including 40 regional designers.
New fair features will include bespoke café concepts, a pop-up retail destination, indoor landscapes and large-scale installations on the fair’s waterfront terrace. Last year, Fair Director at Downtown Design, Rue Kothari spoke to us about how the concept has evolved over the years and added:
“We work with the buyer community around the region to ensure that make the fair the one Middle East fixture they attend in their yearly design calendar. And with the word spreading globally, space in the fair is sold out early every year. Our concept is truly unique and we’re very proud that it’s based here in Dubai.”
With a spotlight on the region’s design talent, Downtown Design’s new fair section ‘Downtown Editions’ will present bespoke and limited-edition design works from across the world, for professional as well as public visitors to discover, purchase and commission.
Founder and CEO of creative consultancy Hamzat Wasl, Hind Bin Demaithan is one of the two Emirati designers selected to represent Dubai’s pavilion within this year’s edition of Abwab, under this year’s theme ‘Between the Lines’.
The Downtown Design talks programme will reflect on the growth of the design economy with 25 global design experts including award-winning designers Ini Archibong, Marc Ange, Martyn Lawrence Bullard and Matthew McCormick.
