Milan Design Week is back and this year the furniture fair will celebrate its 60th anniversary. A rich programme of events is due to take place across the week with the biggest brands in fashion weaved in throughout, we discover who is presenting this year and what immersive experiences are in store.

The 2022 edition of Milan Design Week, or Salone del Mobile, will take place in Milan between the 7th and 12th of June and will host a magnificent display of lifestyle exhibitions, presentations and collaborations in multiple locations across the city. Fashion brands are integrated throughout the event, showcasing their own take on homeware and the theme of the year. This year the event focuses on creativity and innovation.

Dior

At this year’s fair, Dior has invited Philippe Starck to reinvent an iconic emblem; the Medallion Chair. This timeless and elegant piece has been elevated and is ready to be presented at the Palazzo Citterio during Milan Design Week. With a backdrop of monochrome decor in a deep, matte black, the polished chrome homeware pieces will be brought to life in a dramatic reveal. Unveiled one by one in a choreographed musical composition, the eyes are immediately drawn to each of the Miss Dior chair pieces underneath the overhead spotlights.

Versace

Versace is presenting an all-new outdoor summer living line at this year’s design fair, alongside its vibrant homeware collection. Donatella Versace has worked with designers Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini to create this immersive installation space in true opulent Versace style. The collections feature a variety of bold patterns and colours across fabrics, leathers and silks that have been featured in the Versace apparel. In a dreamlike space, graphics and lights present an artistic flow between the walls and the furniture pieces for an immersive guest experience.

Buccellati

Buccellati is making its debut at the fair this year with “Galateo. A Journey into Conviviality”, a project dedicated to rediscovering the centrality of the table. The historic Italian Maison views the table as a place of excellence where relationships can be built and values it as a place of empathy, kindness and grace. Buccellati reimagines the table, combining it with the brand’s iconic silver collections in a collaboration with many leading figures from the international furniture design scene.

Ralph Lauren

Located in the heart of Milan, Palazzo Ralph Lauren opens its doors and transforms into a unique destination that celebrates the American lifestyle and timeless design, with an exclusive preview of the Fall 2022 home collection. As if entering a private estate, the event location presents new offerings from the collection in a modern vision of Ralph Lauren’s estate lifestyle. Guests will be invited to take part in engaging design conversations during the Milan Design Week and indulge in a celebratory cocktail party, hosted by David Lauren and industry experts.

“I have always been inspired by the way people live out their dreams all over the world and the city of Milan especially has touched me with its refinement, beauty, and history. I am excited to share my personal vision of living in the beautiful palazzo that is my home in the heart of Milan.” Ralph Lauren

Loewe

For the past five years, the Milan Design Week has been an important moment for fashion brand Loewe as it has allowed them to be inventive and find unexpected directions of creativity. For its sixth year, the brand presents ‘Weave, Restore, Renew’, a transparent name that describes the materials and values of the presentation. The project revolves around the idea of giving new life to things that might have been forgotten or discarded and turning them into new, unique pieces by repairing and reviving them through craft interventions. Loewe looked at the traditional crafts of leather, straw and paper, to create baskets that are a sustainable and natural material for the home.

Dolce&Gabbana

The unmistakable prints of the Dolce&Gabbana homeware collection will be making an appearance as part of the design week. Two homeware boutiques opened earlier this year and this marks a further opportunity for the brand to present its Casa collections and designs. The Blu Mediterraneo, Carretto Siciliano, Leopard and Zebra themes dominate the scene with their iconic patterns and references to Dolce&Gabbana’s most authentic DNA. The stores are located on Corso Venezia 7 and Via Durini 23 inviting guests to immerse themselves in a unique experience of site-specific multimedia content.

Fendi

Across three locations, this luxury brand will be presenting visitors with a Fendi Casa experience during the Milan Design Week. The first is a large boutique that was opened last April at Piazza della Scala, which presents the Fendi furniture in a modern light-filled space across two levels. The second location is an exclusive appointment-only experience at the Fendi Cases Apartment, a flat on the main floor of a historic stately home. The casa is fully furnished with Fendi pieces and showcases the Maison’s expressive codes and savoir-faire, interacting with the Milanese architecture. The final installation will consist of a temporary bar at the apparel boutique in Via Montenapoleone 3, it will reinterpret the iconic FENDI Caffè in the courtyard of the boutique and is open to the public throughout the week.

Louis Vuitton

At this year’s design week, Louis Vuitton is celebrating ten years of its Objets Nomades collection of furniture and objects. The exhibition has been specifically designed to host the collection in the iconic Garage Traversi in Milan. A large presentation of the latest furniture pieces from the Objets Nomades offering is illuminated in large colourful spaces, plus a wide selection of other pieces from over the past decade. Each of the homeware pieces presented is an expression of the unique combination of its designer’s creativity and Louis Vuitton’s unparalleled savoir-faire.
