New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, so we’ve put together some of our top tips for throwing an incredible NYE dinner party for friends and loved ones.
Planning the guest list
Make sure you get your guest list confirmed as early as possible. When planning who to invite, think about how the different guests will interact and how many people the space can accommodate.
Deciding on a theme
Choosing a specific theme can be a great way to make your NYE party more festive. This could be based on colours, a specific era, or a fun concept. Easy fun decoration ideas can be as simple as balloons, streamers, and confetti.
Selecting the dress code
Similarly, decide on the dress code for the event. You may want the dress code to match the theme of the party, or perhaps you may want to go with black tie, a retro dress code, or something different.
Choosing the menu
Once you know who is attending, make sure to find out any dietary restrictions and allergies your guests may have. There are some great home delivery options in the UAE, to save time cooking in the kitchen. Many hotels offer a fully-cooked festive feast which can be picked up at an agreed time. You might want to consider hiring bar or waiting staff too, so that you can spend more time with your guests.
Booking the entertainment
Plan entertainment to keep the party lively. This could include a DJ, a live band, or a curated playlist for dancing. Consider organising games or activities that guests can participate in throughout the evening too, even small additions can be fun – such as having Polaroid cameras on hand for the guests to use.
Countdown to midnight
Be sure to create a countdown moment to, build momentum and welcome the New Year. This could include a live broadcast of the countdown, or you can lead your own countdown. Make sure everyone has a glass of something too, to welcome in the big moment.
A gift for your guests
Consider providing small party favours or goodie bags for your guests as a token of appreciation for celebrating with you. These could be something related to the theme of the party or simply something to enjoy in the new year.
Getting home safely
If guests are staying late, you may want to arrange transportation options such as designated drivers, ride-sharing services, or taxis to ensure everyone gets home safely.
A post-party plan
Have a plan for cleaning up after the party. There are plenty of cleaning companies in the UAE, but be sure to schedule ahead of time as they can quickly get booked up during the busy party season.
