Talk – From Click to Collector
Taking place at Dubai Design District (d3), from the 5th-10th of November, the 10th edition of Dubai Design Week offers more than 150 activities including engaging talks, hands-on workshops, musical and creative performances as well as special presentations.
Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture, in strategic partnership with Dubai Design District (d3), a member of TECOM Group PJSC, and supported by Dubai Culture, the region’s leading annual design festival will showcase over 500 designers, architects and brands from more than 40 countries.
Highlights from the 10th edition:
6-9 November – Downtown Design
The global contemporary design showcase and anchor event of Dubai Design Week, returns to unite both established and emerging talent from the international design scene.
6-9 November – Editions
The region’s first fair for limited-edition art and design debuts alongside Downtown Design, showcasing presentations from both established and emerging galleries, design studios and collectives across a range of mediums
6 November – Performance | Omani Musical Troupe at Urban Commissions
Urban Commissions winner Altqadum will host a special performance by an Omani musical troupe at their installation TukTukDum.
7 Nov, 4-5pm – Talk | Breaking Boundaries: Redefining Design with Karim Rashid
Renowned industrial designer Karim Rashid will take the stage for the first time at Downtown Design to share insights into his design philosophy.
8 Nov, 1-2pm – Masterclass | Material Meets Tech by UAE National Pavilion
In a cooking-show format, this masterclass will explore key design stages through a sustainable lens – research, materials, 3D scanning and assembly.
9 Nov, 2-2:45pm – Talk | From Click to Collector: Exploring the Art and Impact of Photography
Curated by Editions, Mohamed Somji, Lamya Gargash, Jassim Rabia Al-Awadhi and Qwan Anthony will explore photography’s evolution and its impact on contemporary design.
5 Nov, 3-5pm – Workshop | Mixed Media with Archival Photographs by Nada Almosa
Palestinian artist and writer Nada Almosa will lead a workshop that combines pressed botanicals, embroidery and different media into photographs.
9 Nov, 7:30pm-8pm & 8:30pm-9pm – Performance | Nigerian singer-songwriter SEDENOJIE
EDENOJIE’s performances will highlight his diverse influences, including gospel, R&B, jazz and blues.
9 Nov, 11:30am-1pm – Children’s Workshop | Born Creative by Kapil Bhimekar
An exciting workshop designed to spark curiosity and imagination in kids through dynamic, hands-on artistic activities.
Nov, 10am to 10pm – The Marketplace
A fantastic and incredibly diverse place to discover unique new finds. Over 75 creatives, artisans and small businesses are participating – from sustainable fashion made out of banana leaves to intricate hand-blown glass from Beirut, kimonos from Ghana, hand-crafted jewellery, homeware, and a number of multi-brand collectives, representing cool local and regional brands. 15+ homegrown F&B outlets, including artisanal pizzas, handmade pasta and pasta-making workshop, homemade ice cream, Ghanaian vegan dishes and a selection of sweet treats such as cookies, donuts and health-conscious chocolate options as well as boba.
5-9 Nov, Various Times – Performance | Ceremony by Japanese Tea Master Mariko Ando-Dedoussi
Tea Master Mariko Ando-Dedoussi will host traditional tea ceremonies at The Warp, a 3D-printed installation by Mitsubishi Jisho Design.
7-8 Nov, 1-7pm – Live Painting Demonstration | with Evie Collins and de Gournay
Painter Evie Collins will lead daily hand-painting demonstrations at the de Gournay Lounge, offering an immersive experience in de Gournay’s artistry.
7-9 Nov, 1-5pm – Demonstration | Shellac, A Natural Resin Technique with Ceccotti Collezioni
Ceccotti Collezioni will host a demo on the ancient and rigorous wood-finishing technique, shellac, in the Poltrona Frau space.
