Where To See The Fireworks In Dubai For Chinese New Year

Emma Hodgson   |   09-02-2024

This weekend there will be celebrations across the world as the Chinese Year of the Dragon commences – and with it a hefty number of firework displays. Although seen as a relatively new custom in many parts of the world, using fireworks to celebrate the Lunar New Year is an ancient custom in China, through which people traditionally believed the ritual helped to ward off evil spirits and promote prosperity. As can be expected, there will be some incredible firework displays across Dubai for Chinese New Year on the 10th of February. For some of the best shows in the city, check out the list below.

Burj Al Arab

One of the most exciting shows taking place this weekend will include fireworks – and perhaps more intriguingly – drones. According to Jumeirah Group around 1,600 to 1,800 drones will take to the sky above Dubai’s famous Burj Al Arab landmark to create the image of a 300-metre-long dragon.

Global Village

Why celebrate Chinese New Year once – when you can celebrate it twice? This weekend Global Village will host not one, but two firework displays to celebrate the start of the Year of the Dragon on both Friday and Saturday night.

Dubai Parks and Resort

Riverland Dubai, in the heart of the city’s family-friendly Dubai Parks Resort, will have plenty of fun activities for all the family on Saturday evening. In the build-up to the main fireworks display at 9 pm, there will be several laser shows to build momentum, with two taking place at 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm, and a third taking place after the fireworks at 9.30 pm.
