Old fashioned view of pearl jewellery has been officially overhauled this season with a modern approach and fresh take on the classic shapes.
The great pearl takeover already has made it onto our clothes with many designers decorating jeans, knitwear and shoes in these gems but it’s the earrings, chunky necklaces and statement rings that have our attention.
Look for bold brooches and chokers as well as ear cuffs that break the misconception that pearls are only reserved for sorority events and your grandmother’s collection. For runway inspiration check out Gucci, Oscar De La Renta, Ellery and of course Chanel where Karl Lagerfeld was not afraid to layer necklaces for maximum effect.
