In an exciting collaboration, IWC Schaffhausen, Laureus Sport for Good, and Bonhams are hosting a unique online auction featuring a remarkable piece of sporting memorabilia: the Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team.

This is no ordinary timepiece; it is the very watch worn by seven-time Formula One™ world champion Lewis Hamilton during the podium celebration of his ninth British Grand Prix™ victory.
Bidding commenced on the 7th of October and will close on the 19th of October, coinciding with the prestigious Laureus Charity Night fundraising event in Zurich, Switzerland.
In a significant gesture, all proceeds from this auction will directly benefit Laureus Sport for Good and its initiatives aimed at empowering young people through sport.
Laureus Sport for Good harnesses the transformative power of sport to help children and youth overcome challenges such as violence, discrimination, and social disadvantage. With programmes active across the globe, the foundation positively impacts the lives of tens of thousands each year. IWC Schaffhausen has been a dedicated partner of Laureus Sport for Good since 2005, consistently supporting the foundation’s mission through participation in their annual charity events. This year marks a significant milestone, as the auction is held online for the first time in partnership with Bonhams, broadening access for bidders around the world.

Lewis Hamilton
Franziska Gsell, Chief Marketing Officer at IWC Schaffhausen, expressed her enthusiasm: “Each year, we look forward to participating in the Laureus Charity Night, one of the foundation’s most important fundraisers. This year is particularly special as we auction the watch Lewis Hamilton wore during an emotional and memorable moment of the season. By moving the auction online, we ensure that even more interested bidders can participate.”
The Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 (Ref. IW388306) features a case and case back crafted from IWC’s innovative Ceratanium®, a material that combines the lightweight qualities of titanium with the hardness of ceramic. With a striking black ceramic bezel equipped with a tachymeter scale, this watch not only serves as a stylish accessory but also offers practical functionality. Its intricate lacquer finish and Super-LumiNova®-filled hands ensure clarity and visual depth, while the IWC-manufactured 69385 calibre movement promises precision and reliability.
Adding to the allure of this auction lot are Hamilton’s original racing gloves, which he wore during the unforgettable race at Silverstone. These gloves, signed by the champion himself, were graciously donated by the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team.
The auction will culminate with live bidding on the 19th of October at 10:45 PM CET during the Laureus Charity Night.
