Miu Miu has presented two films from its Women’s Tales series at the Venice Film Festival as part of the Giornate degli Autori programme.
The programme opened with the premiere of Avec Kim, the 32nd instalment of Women’s Tales, directed by French filmmaker Claire Denis and starring Suzanne Lindon and Kim Gordon. The film follows a young mechanic who transforms an old car before driving through Paris to meet Gordon’s character, with a series of encounters unfolding along the way.
Gordon, the co-founder of Sonic Youth and a visual artist and author, also created the film’s score. Lindon, who made her acting debut in Spring Blossom in 2020, plays the lead role.
The screening was followed by Discipline, the 31st Women’s Tales film, directed by Mona Fastvold and starring Amanda Seyfried.
The Women’s Tales series commissions female directors to explore themes of femininity and vanity. Denis’ film focuses on female friendship, identity and the role of clothing in shaping character, while reflecting the director’s emphasis on physical presence, movement and sensory experience.
Following its Venice premiere, Avec Kim will be available through Miu Miu’s digital channels before being streamed globally on MUBI.
