Matte lipstick has traditionally demanded a compromise: richness of colour at the expense of comfort, or a finish that struggles to endure. Now, Dior attempts to resolve that tension with two additions to Rouge Dior On Stage, created by Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup.

Rouge Dior On Stage Matte translates the performance of a liquid formula into a slender lipstick. Dior’s double-phase technology brings together an “ultra colour” element, designed to anchor pigment, and a “soft blur” phase of perfecting powders that smooths the lips. The result is an intense velvet finish with a bare lip sensation and up to 24 hours of no-transfer wear, according to the maison.

Its bullet has the precision of a liner: the rounded top shapes the Cupid’s bow, while the pointed tip defines the lower lip. Ten shades span understated nudes and colour, including 460 Red On Stage Matte, a vibrant orange red, and 380 Nude Ultra On Stage Matte, a rosy brown nude.

A softer interpretation arrives through Rouge Dior On Stage Ink Blur Matte. The weightless liquid lipstick combines blurring gels with two polymers to create a diffused, cloudlike finish. Colour is buildable, allowing one layer to leave a sheer veil and further strokes to increase its depth. Its ten-shade palette includes the rosewood-toned 558 Rosewood Star and Dior’s 999 red.

Rouge Dior On Stage Shine also gains two shades for 2026: pink 328 Dazzling Rose and a glossy interpretation of 999. Presented in midnight blue packaging detailed with silver cannage and the reversed CD insignia, the collection treats the lip as both canvas and statement. Jenna Ortega fronts its campaign, moving from red carpet polish to the energy of an after-party, a fitting expression of colour made to remain in place.
