The Armani Group has appointed Dario Vitale as Creative Director of Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani Accessories, effective immediately.

He is the first person outside the Armani family to hold the position, marking a significant change in the Group’s creative structure.

Born in 1983 in Southern Italy, Vitale moved to Milan, where he is now based. He studied design at Istituto Marangoni before establishing a career with several leading Italian luxury houses, including Bottega Veneta under Tomas Maier.

Vitale joined Miu Miu in 2010, where he worked closely with Miuccia Prada. During his time at the house, he rose to become Design Director of Ready-to-Wear and Brand Image Director, before departing in March 2025. In April 2025, Vitale was appointed Chief Creative Officer at Versace. He became the first designer outside the Versace family to lead the creative direction of the house.

His appointment at Armani will see Vitale take responsibility for the creative direction of Emporio Armani, while also overseeing Giorgio Armani Accessories. He will work closely with Silvana Armani, Head of Womenswear Design, and Leo Dell’Orco, Head of Menswear Design at the Armani Group.

Vitale said he was “honoured” to take on the dual role and described Armani’s legacy and design language as having shaped the history of fashion. He said he approached the position with a sense of responsibility and excitement as the Group builds on its heritage.

Discussing the appointment, Silvana Armani and Leo Dell’Orco released a joint statement saying: “Emporio Armani is much more than a line for us: it is a reality to which we are deeply connected, having followed and shared its journey since the very beginning. Emporio was born as a space of freedom, experimentation and energy, and we are convinced that Dario’s arrival in our team, as a talent already established on the international stage, will interpret its spirit with respect and authenticity.”
