After a weekend of not-so-subtle teasers, it was announced that Ariana Grande is the new face of Givenchy, and here’s why she thoroughly deserves the role.

Taking to Instagram, Givenchy teased the new face of the French Fashion house over the last few days with the using silhouettes of the woman in question. But thanks to a certain signature ponytail, it wasn’t hard to guess that pop princess Ariana Grande was set for the role.

After the not-to-subtle hints in a series of posts, the new was officially broken by the brand. Givenchy revealed the news to its millions of followers alongside the hashtag #arivenchy. The full Fall/Winter 19 campaign starring the Thank U, Next singer will launch in July of this year.

On joining the Givenchy family, the 25-year-old singer said: “I am so proud to be the new face of Givenchy. It is a House I have forever admired and to now be part of that family is such an honour. I love this clothing and the confidence and joy it brings to the people wearing it. Not only is the clothing timeless and beautiful but I’m proud to work with a brand that makes people feel celebrated for who they are, and unapologetic about whatever they want to be.”

Voice of a Generation

With her distinctive voice and catchy tunes, Ariana is clearly a talented singer and songstress. To date, she has earned herself over 80 awards. But she also stands up for women everywhere and jumps at the defence of other women in the industry and is a champion of feminism, making her the voice of a generation in a whole other way, too.

Record Breaker

As well as awards, the Florida-born singer has quite a few records under her belt, too. For starters, she is the most followed woman on Instagram with a staggering 154 million followers at the time of writing. She also broke Spotify’s 24-hour and weekly streaming records in early 2019 and holds the title for the most top 40 hits at once for a female artist. With the release of her Thank U, Next album, she became the first artist to occupy the number one, two and three positions on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart all at once since The Beatles back in 1964. We could go on, but we’re sure you get the picture.

Strong Woman

Talented yes, but there a plenty of other demonstrations of the artists’ strength and compassion. After a bomb was detonated during her concert in UK city Manchester –  tragically killing 22 of her fans – she organised a concerted there for the following month, One Love Manchester in June 2017. The event raised approximately £18 million (85 Million Dhs) for those affected by the tragedy. This is just one of the examples of overcoming hardships thrown her way that proves she’s more than just a strong set of lungs.

Instinctive style

Of course, Givenchy also picked out the singer for her own sense of style. As well as her enviable signature ponytail, she flirts between classic and edgy styles on the red carpet, making her someone fashion followers always keep an eye on. Meaning we’re counting down until the new Givenchy collection in unveiled this July.
