Chanel sailed into Bangkok with the replica show of their Cruise 2019 collection that was first presented in Paris in May.
Passengers such as the brands ambassadors’ Lily-Rose Depp, Tilda Swinton, Caroline de Maigret, Soo Joo Park, Pharrell Williams and Gaspard Ulliel boarded traditional Thai boats to traverse Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River docking at the disused Sermsuk warehouse, reimagined for the occasion as a playful marina – the Pier No 5.
Models strolled past the guests in their candy-coloured palette of cottons, silks and the House’s iconic tweeds that echoed Gabrielle Chanel’s subtle blend of nonchalance and style, as the whimsical cruise ship La Pausa stood in the background.
The tailoring had a more relaxed fit with cropped jackets presented without sleeves and a denim trim, while dresses and skirts felt light and breeze – ideal for the warm evening in Thailand. The nautical theme was reflected in the striped T-shirts and net bags, while the embellished beret gave a nod to the brands Parisian heritage.
As the show drew to a close, guests were invited aboard the La Pausa to watch Pharrell perform and get a sneak peek at his capsule collection for Chanel.
