From contemporary tailoring to decadent eveningwear, Azzi & Osta SS19 collection will make you feel like a modern day aristocrat.

Lebanese born design duo George Azzi and Asaad Osta are propelling Middle Eastern design sensibility onto a global scale with their unique approach to couture-level craftsmanship. When chatting to A&E in the September issue, the duo spoke of the regional influences:

“Azzi & Osta is primarily a Couture House, we think we are lucky to be based in the Middle East, where Couture is mostly appreciated. The Middle East is home to the majority of Couture clients, and Couture is in the DNA of Middle Eastern Culture.”

Presented during Paris Fashion Week, they pay homage to Polish painter Tamara de Lempicka in a collection entitled The Baroness With A Brush. The Avant-Garde artist was highly known for her Art Deco portraits of the upper class crowds in the twenties and her individualism, love of travel served as thoughtful inspiration for next seasons’ pieces.

“The collection speaks to the free-spirited woman; the trend-setter who is unique, unconventional in her way of living and independent,” the said in a statement.

The silhouettes are asymmetric with conceptual volumes created from a variety of fabrics such as tulle, lurex and silk chiffon. The sharp suits and broad shoulders of Tamara’s paintings are translated into feminine lines in the dresses, jumpsuits, tailored ensembles and capes, while the details of the portraits are transformed into embroidery appliques. The colour palette is vibrant and intense and includes primrose yellow, emerald green, fiery red, crisp white, classic black and neutral nudes.
