Louis Vuitton announces a series of events surrounding the release of the Louis Vuitton and Nike ‘Air Force 1’ sneaker, designed by Virgil Abloh.

First created in 1982, the Nike ‘Air Force 1’ is one of the most successful shoes ever created. This year it celebrates its 40th anniversary with a very special collaboration. Before his passing in 2021, Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director, Virgil Abloh created 47 bespoke ‘Air Force 1’ editions for his Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2022 collection.

The designs are crafted in the Maison’s Manufacture in Fiesso d’Artico, Venice, Italy fusing the sneaker’s classic codes, structure, pattern and colours, with the insignia and finest materials of Louis Vuitton.

In the run-up to this launch, an exhibition is taking place in New York between 20-31 May 2022 in the form of physical and virtual immersive spaces. The exhibition is located at Greenpoint Terminal Warehouse in New York City and is open to the public. The expansive showcase charts the creative dialogue between Nike and Louis Vuitton envisioned by Virgil Abloh for the Spring-Summer collection.

Coinciding with the exhibition, a number of corresponding installations will take place around New York City and the world, tied to the themes of the showcase.

At the exhibition, guests will discover a giant version of the logo reflected in a mirrored ceiling. They are surrounded by 3D-printed statues and framed by walls painted in the clouds characteristic of Virgil Abloh’s show sets and campaign imagery.

The sneaker editions will feature in both a high and a low top and if you’d like to get your hands on a pair, then look out for the nine editions of the sneaker launched globally through an inclusive digital activation in June.
