Milan Fashion Week: Alberta Ferretti Spring/Summer 2022

Alberta Ferretti’s Spring/Summer collection “Touch & Feel” debuted at Milan Fashion Week on 22nd September 2021.

At a time when we are still living in an uncertain world Ferretti decided to focus on the certainties we do have as women – our personal signature, our bodies and our identities – which she explored through the exemplary craftsmanship used in this collection.

A combination of light pieces with strong, powerful textures this offering for spring reaffirms the key elements of style. Silhouettes are soft, airy and light, like a warm summer’s day and dress lengths are high above the knee or long, exaggerated by floating trains.

The colour palette is soft and natural to begin but as the collection develops, bold jewel tones are prominent, adding power and strength to the femininity this collection possesses.

Jackets with a masculine feel have an elongated and decidedly feminine allure. Macro Sangallo embroideries run through dresses and jumpsuits.

Fringes dance, move and seduce. Knotting, weaving, draping are a recurring motif: top, dresses and trousers in hand-crocheted cord; long and short dresses held together by resin inserts; crinolines moulded into feminine armour; and then small woven leather bags and flat wedge sandals tied around the foot.

The butterfly, the only print, a symbol of rebirth and metamorphosis, captures the spirit of the collection. Its colours inspire pictorial degraded effects on evening dresses; its lightness guides a choice of materials ranging from silk and fluid linens to airy and delicate chiffon.
