Still mourning ‘old Celine’? Worry no more as team A&E went through the SS19 shows with a fine style comb and found other designer that can fill the Phoebe Philo shaped hole.
We, among other fashion lovers, are still adjusting to Hedi Slimane’s vision for the French brand which under Philo was associated with powerful tailoring, oversized silhouettes and feminine yet modern workwear – a complete polar opposite to his sensual mini cuts and sequined pieces.
Picking up on the general mood surrounding Slimane’s debut, Toronto-based Gabrielle Boucinha launched Instagram account @oldceline where he shares runway, campaign and shoot images featuring Philo’s creations, and in just one month it gained over 70,000 followers including head of Louis Vuitton Men Virgil Abloh and style writer Leandra Medine.
Philo’s Celine was all about empowering women through natural beauty and understated yet extremely beautiful clothing. Below, we look to the designers who also speak the new language of femininity.
