New York Fashion Week Day Two

New York has always been known for being the ‘technical capital’, meaning where fashion meets function.  After the nostalgic comeback of Tom Ford, New York Fashion Week day two was full of colour and concept. Here’s the edit of our picks from yesterday’s shows and events .

Designers Laura Vassar and Kris Brock of Brock Collection brought back the ethereal summer beauty for the upcoming season. “We always take this path of this raw romanticism, and this season we wanted to put an edge on it,” the duo said before the show. The lingerie focused collection came with a savvy integration of forties tailoring, where coats, skirts and trousers were mixed with the lingerie pieces; and what gave the collection its essential grit of dark romance was the group of black lace gowns the designers sent down the runway at once.

Just in time for NYFW, Shopbop.com gets a makeover! Today, competition across the e-tail market is super-high, so the luxury e-commerce site decides to increase its editorial output and improve customer experience, and certainly this is not the first revamp the site has undergone. Shopbop’s CEO Darcy Penick explains: “We’re moving more towards a stylized imagery with our product, that allows the model to come forward a little more. It’s less about the standard pose, where they fade into the background, but more about capturing the look and feel of the experience. I think it makes you notice the individual images more.” Shopbop celebrated their total makeover with numerous editors and social icons at their Fall themed pop-up store on 201 Mulberry St. New York City.

Another luxurious way that ended Day 2 was- The Art Of Caviar Exhibit by La Prairie, celebrating its one-of-a-kind Skin Caviar Collection. The ultra-luxe  skincare brand, hosted a contemporary art exhibit based on the theme of caviar; also invited  two of the talented artists, Paul Coudamy and Remens S. Of course, guests were complimented with Champagne and Skin Caviar treatments from 10am until 5pm, and the night festivities kicked off  over music and with an exclusive caviar tasting bar.

Last night, many stars were spotted partying at the Mert & Marcus Book Launch. The duo photographers debuted their new 400-page tome that’s been “20 years in the making” – a limited collector’s edition featuring A-list stars and collaborators, such as Kim (if she is of any source).

There was no show fro Zac Posen scheduled for New York Fashion Week , but he does have a movie premiere- House of Z, a documentary focusing on his career in fashion and the journey within the industry. A sneak peak of Zac Posen’s Spring 2018 collection is also revealed from the look-book shoot that took place at his studio in Manhattan, featuring two very charming models — Barbara Faiho and Kate Upton.

Just in time for New York Fashion Week, super-model Coco Rocha embraces her rock-n-roll side with a fresh new haircut by celebrity hairstylist Anh Co Tran. Wait a minute, doesn’t this hairstyle remind you of all the models who walked onto Tom Ford’s Spring’18 catwalk with bombshell pixie cuts? As always Coco never fails to disappoint, we love it!
