Valentino’s Pre-Fall 2017 Collection

Yesterday, Pierpaolo Piccioli staged Valentino’s Pre-Fall 2017 show at the newly refurbished Beekman Hotel, Manhattan. All eyes were on Piccioli, as he continues to act as sole Creative Director, after the huge fashion break up of 2016. His partner of 17 years, Maria Grazia Chiuri, whom he shared so much success with, left the brand last year, causing much controversy and speculation. However, his solo debut back in October was a triumph, featuring stunning ethereal dresses and daywear.

For his Pre-Fall collection, he took on a more casual approach, focusing on floaty, floral dresses, over the knee flat leather boots and slip on sneakers. The collection did not focus on a particular theme and had a variety of colours, from bold, burnt orange and deep burgundy to more muted pastel greens and blues. Evening wear was a mix of Victoriana pieces and a glittering sequinned number worthy of the red carpet. Piccioli’s collection featured a lot of layers, with the use of bra tops, mink collars and a variety of outerwear covered in bold prints as well as luxurious pyjama sets, proving that the pyjama trend is here to stay.

Piccioli’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection was yet another stunning triumph, proving he can still push the boundaries as Valentino’s sole Creative Director. Next week will mark, Piccioli’s first independent menswear and haute couture shows and we cannot wait to see what he has in store.
