The French Riviera is buzzing with celebrities and movie lovers for the annual Cannes Film Festival, and while some eyes are on the screen, ours are firmly on the red carpet.

Considered one of the most glamorous film festivals on the calendar, and hot on the heels of the Met Gala, there was plenty of glitz at the premieres and photo calls to admire from the likes of Lea Seydoux, Cate Blanchett, Ava DuVernay and Kristen Stewart – who are also this year’s jury members.

Blanchett showed that if you have a stunning dresses, it deserves another twirl so she wore a black lace Armani Privé gown that she has previously showcased during the 2014 Golden Globes. Blanchett told the Hollywood Reporter that it was a conscious decision in order to promote sustainability and added:

“Particularly in today’s climate, it seems willful and ridiculous that such beautiful garments are not cherished and reworn for a lifetime.”

Penelope Cruz wore a  vintage Chanel dress as she walked alongside her husband Javier Bardem who looked dapper in a custom-made Ermenegildo Zegna Couture suit. Both are at the 71st edition of the festival to promote their psychological thriller Everybody Knows, which is one the most talked about films this season.

Other stars who lit up the South of France were Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart who both dressed in Chanel, while Julianne Moore went for a bold red Givenchy gown. Click through the gallery to see who else passed out style jury.
