This year’s event coincides with the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, an initiative aimed at fostering connections among diverse communities through a series of cultural exchanges and collaborations.
Under the esteemed patronage of Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums and Co-Chair of Fashion Trust Arabia, the evening was a resounding affirmation of the commitment to nurture emerging fashion talent from the MENA region.
Sheikha Al Mayassa welcomed attendees alongside FTA Co-Founder Tania Fares, emphasizing the importance of supporting the next generation of designers.
The glamorous gala, hosted by acclaimed actress Angela Bassett and Egyptian star Ahmad Helmy, attracted a mix of international celebrities, industry leaders, and media representatives.
Notable guests included supermodel Helena Christensen, singer Aya Nakamura, actress Jodie Turner-Smith, and fashion icon Carla Bruni Sarkozy, among many others. The night also featured a captivating performance by singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who thrilled the audience with her chart-topping hits.
The winners were selected by a prestigious FTA Jury, comprising industry experts, during a highly anticipated deliberation day at the Beldi Country Club. Out of 24 talented finalists, the designers showcased their innovative collections in categories ranging from Ready-to-Wear to Eveningwear, Accessories, Jewelry, and the newly introduced Fashion Tech Award.
Each winning designer will receive a cash prize between $100,000 and $200,000, alongside a personalized one-year mentorship program facilitated by FTA’s Retail Partners and a global network of industry professionals. This mentorship covers crucial aspects of fashion business development, including sustainability practices led by Maison De Mode. Additionally, the winners from the Ready-to-Wear, Eveningwear, Accessories, and Jewelry categories will see their collections featured at Harrods internationally and Ounass within the MENA region.
