Louis Vuitton’s artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière certainly has an eye for architecture. On his personal Instagram, it was announced that the new location for the brand’s Resort 2017 show, held on May 28th, will be held at Rio de Janeiro’s Niterói Contemporary Art Museum designed by legendary Modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer.

The announcement on the Maison’s Instagram account said: “The setting inspired me right away. . . . It’s about being transported into a relationship where nature, geography, and architecture come together.” On a second image it stated: “The Louis Vuitton Cruise presentation marks the first time the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum has ever hosted a fashion show, as well as celebrating its 20th anniversary and public reopening.”

The museum has a sweeping spiral bold pink walkway and the building looks like a retro, contemporary futuristic spaceship with its curvilinear shape. Last Resort season, Vuitton staged its show in Bob Hope’s John Lautner–designed house in Palm Springs, California, a similarly futurist-minded building. Other brands, this season, staging destination Resort shows are going for an old-world inspiration. Gucci will be held at Westminister Abbey, Dior in Blenheim Palace and Chanel in Havana, Cuba.
