Looking for an all-in-one location to spend the afternoon this weekend? Visit the Lighthouse in Duba Design District for a spot of shopping and eating.
Concept stores are popping up more and more across Dubai. This means a one-stop destination where you can shop, eat, drink coffee, meet up with friends but more important hangout and feel a home.
And The LightHouse – located within Building 6 in Dubai Design District – is one to add to your list if you’re yet to visit. Named after the Virginia Woolf novel, the bright and airy space mimics the 1927 novel’s notion of and her Bloomsbury Group fellows who met over “lingering breakfasts” and “painting lunches.”
Of course the heart of the setup – like any welcoming home – is the kitchen. The feel is more laid back than a fancy restaurant but with finer cuisine than a cafe, so makes for the perfect leisurely lunch.
Chef Izu Ani mixes up a cocktail of healthy, colourful dishes that are both indulgent yet nourishing. Nibble on light delights such as the kale and button mushroom salad with a side of baked feta and a mezze selection to share, before moving on to mains such as grilled baby chicken with dried apricots, fried shallots and pistachios or truffle rigatoni with mushrooms, cream sauce and sliced truffle.
Elsewhere, you can stay for coffee (laptops and worn-in books welcome) or bimble around the shop – ideal for little gifts for loved ones. From cookbooks and cutesy jewellery to scented candles and quirky washbags.
The Lighthouse also run regular events, too, such workshops and talks within the store and external pop-ups events.
So whether you want to spend the day sipping coffee and indulging in some light chopping on spending the evening engaging in a talk, visit thelighthouse.ae for more.
