Paintings of Kate Toledo
Need a culture fix? The new Portuguese art exhibition from Kate Toledo is coming to Dubai in November.
Focusing on 17th and 18th century ceramic works and antiquities, this will be the fourth presentation from the Dubai based artist titled The Portuguese Collection, a retrospective on Portuguese history through modern travels.
The painting were inspired by the artists second home, Lisbon, where religious and public buildings don elaborate tile work and interiors decorated with 17th century Pombal tiles. The series, which took close to three years to complete, present a personal, contemporary interpretation, bringing in various animal scenes and renewing the original pattern work.
Fashion and art have often crossed path so Toledo is also extending her creativity further into signature silk scarves.
