In the spirit of London Fashion Week, our pick for the week is London-based jewellery designer Noor Fares; today she welcomes a unique vibe to the fine jewellery industry with a focus on talisman elements.
“I try to create pieces that are both contemporary and timeless. I always think about the longevity of my work,” Fares explains, as she describes herself as a designer.
The jewellery designer of Lebanese-origin is quite a globetrotter; she was raised in Paris, studied art history in Boston, and pursued a Master’s degree in fine jewellery design from Central Saint Martins, London.
Fares launched her eponymous jewellery brand in 2009, with her first collection “Touch Wood” inspired by the Middle Eastern tradition of touching wood for good luck, which got picked up right from the start by Harrod’s. Today, the brand is found at Dover Street Market in London, Net-a-Porter, Matches.com and Bergdorf Goodman in New York to name a few.
For Noor’s latest collection, she looks for inspiration from the evolution of the universe. Referring to the cycle of life and chakra energy, the “Akasha flower of life” collection is based on floral patterns finely crafted in 18k yellow gold with white diamonds and coloured gemstones.
