Michael Kors Resort 2019 collection captures luxe nonchalance, surfer girl meets New York glam.
Inspired by the designers childhood summers at the Catalina Beach Club in Atlantic Beach, NYC, sporty opulence is at the heart of the latest range. Kors effortlessly blends lush brocades, delicate lace and extravagant embroideries in leggy silhouettes with sporty and scuba details.
There is a fusion of prints such as the painterly florals, plaids, leopard and gingham as well as graphic colour blocking with a modernist edge. Romantic ruffled skirts, dresses and blouses are juxtaposed with neat tailoring. Note the Crisp coats, trim jackets and cropped trousers as well as the mix of deep lapis, turquoise and aqua. Gleaming metallic silver and gold play off the black, perfect for day to night dressing.
Striving to please three types of clients, Kors tells WWD that ‘the clothes have to go to a party, go on vacation, go to work.’ Now, that sounds like a clever way of dressing. He invites you to style your brocade with athletic sandals or mod boots, but then also have sleek stilettos at hand for the evening. The mini shoulder bag, maxi tote and the utilitarian sport crossbody complete the collection which reflects today casual luxury at it’s finest.
