Chanel have unveiled the debut campaign with their newest ambassador Penélope Cruz.
Shot by Karl Lagerfeld, the Oscar-winning actress is the face of the brand’s 2018/ 2019 Cruise collection. In a series of black and white imagery, she is seen dressed in the laid back pieces from the range including tweed jacket with pearl buttons, chic beret’s and a delicate knit emblazoned with La Pausa – a reference to the name of the villa in the South of France built by founder Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in the Thirties.
Cruz is the newest muse following the likes of Margot Robbie, Kaia Gerber and Kristen Stewart. She has been a long-term friend of the Maison, first attending a their show in 1999. Upon the announcement of her joining the Chanel show in May, she said in a statement:
“It’s such an iconic brand and Karl is a genius, and I’ve been admiring everything he’s done since I was a little girl, so it’s such a pleasure working with him. He’s like the king of fashion and we had a really, really interesting photo shoot, so to be in front of his camera is an adventure.”
Chanel’s next cruise show will sail to Bangkok on October 31.
