NAKKASH Gallery has returned to Design Days Dubai for the sixth consecutive year, with a focus on the exploration of materials.
Since its establishment in 1983, NAKKASH Gallery has transcended traditional borders in terms of art and design, and proves it once again this year. This edition sees the Dubai based interior gallery unveil the first collection by the father-son duo, Wajih and Omar Nakkash, alongside other international talent.
Wajih, Founder and Director of NAKKASH Gallery, along with Omar, Interior Designer at NAKKASH Gallery have joined forces to create a limited-edition collection of furniture which not only combines the design sensibilities and inspirations of these two designers but is also true to their own style of craft and innovation.
The limited-edition collection consists of the Luna bookcase, the Orbit table series and the iconic “7 Salutes” console which pays tribute to the national symbol of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s three finger-salute. The pieces have Wajih’s timeless approach and signature design aesthetic, but also Omar’s modern and minimalistic touch which gives a certain air of industrial sophistication to the collection.
“The natural marble and metal sheets flow seamlessly throughout the collection and these materials convey a sense of what is essential and modern.” explains Omar Nakkash, Interior Designer at NAKKASH Gallery.
NAKKASH Gallery is also proud to present Lebanese talent for the first time at this year’s design fair. Maysa and Nour Saccal, from Saccal Design House will exhibit a plurality of different materials and functional design pieces. The stand will also feature pieces from Italian designers Nikita Bettoni and Alberto Nason.
Wajih Nakkash, Founder and Director said “This year’s edition is dear to my heart as it showcases my son and I’s first collaboration and collective design aesthetic that flourished into a collection. We strived to create pieces with a simple and instinctive approach that had a modern aesthetic to them by incorporating distinct materials which I think translated perfectly throughout the collection.”
