Health Wonderland: Clinique La Prairie
Increase Your Liquid Intake
If there is one thing that can easily and naturally help you to detox your body, it’s definitely increasing your water intake. Proper water consumption can contribute to healthier skin, properly functioning organs, and a more effective metabolism, respiratory, circulatory, and digestive system.
At Clinique La Prairie, we also recommend you drink a herbal green tea after every meal, to keep your body hydrated and purified in a healthy and natural way, eliminate excess fluid and awaken your metabolism. When taken every day throughout the year, green tea can also slow down ageing and give your body new found energy, along with reducing the feeling of hunger.
Vitamin Rich Diet & Superfoods
Have a balanced diet rich in protein and vitamin. Your meals should always include vegetables, fruits rich in vitamins (orange/kiwi/lemon) with carrots (vitamin A) and cereals which are a source of Vitamin B.
Also, don’t forget to add superfoods in your daily diet, these are not just nutritious but also delicious in taste and are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids such as salmon, tuna, avocado, walnuts, almonds, olive oil, flax Seeds. You can also turn to other goodies like garlic, chia seeds and cacao powder, that have detoxifying properties.
Stick To Regimen
Avoid falling into quick fix diets or signing up to the gym only to quit a month later. What actually works is changing your long-term habits, so you need to eliminate the sources of toxins first such as soft drinks, canned food, gluten, and increase your intake of fruits and vegetables. A good place to start is drinking juices or green smoothies for breakfast, and then gradually work up to eating raw salads for lunch or dinner. Raw foods act as tonics but are also high in nutrients and provide your body with large doses of vitamins and minerals.
Sleep Well
To recover your biological rhythm, always have dinner before sunset so that your metabolism is still active to digest the food. You should also wait for two to three hours before going to bed to avoid lying down with a full stomach. It’s also a good idea to spend a quick ten minutes doing some stretching. Then you could spend another five to ten minutes breathing deeply or meditating. Avoid caffeine and reduce your intake of liquids just before bed.
Reset with Clinique La Prairie’s programs
A perfect retreat for your body and mind after the holiday season is Clinique La Prairie’s Master Detox Program™ which will eliminate toxins and stimulate your longevity while you relish the purity of the Swiss mountains, indulging in luxurious peace and utmost relaxation.
If your aim is to lose the holiday weight, then try the intensive Clinique La Prairie Weight Management program which offers a multidisciplinary approach with the assistance of a nutritionist, dietician, personal fitness trainer, psychologist, massage therapist and aesthetician, to tailor-make your slimming journey and help you achieve better and longer lasting weight loss and control.
As you relax in the tranquil surroundings and gaze on at the clear waters of Lake Geneva, you will be transported into a time unlike any other – one enjoyed by royal highnesses, world leaders, movie stars and celebrities.

Everyone in New York has been eagerly anticipating the reveal of the latest collaboration between street wear label Kith and Italian luxury fashion house Versace.

New York Fashion Week SS19: Weekend Roundup
The collection takes Versace street wear to a new level. Sporty looks were revealed, each revisiting iconic house codes – Greek Key patterns, Baroque prints and gold jewellery. The Versace logomania is reinterpreted with the likes of a blindfolded Medusa that upholds the streetwise Kith aesthetic.
The Italian label knows glamour, but it’s Ronnie Fieg, owner-operator of retail establishment Kith, that delivers the cool factor that Gen-Z craves. We are yet to know the release date, but we imagine there is already a virtual line up of millennials ready to snap up the cropped puffer jackets and bodysuits.
It was a busy weekend of shows at New York Fashion Week SS19 with A-List spotting and trending moments on the catwalk.
A sense of wanderlust has been sweeping through the big city with brands like Tory Burch sending out pieces that make you desperately want to set off on you next voyage. For SS19, Burch was influenced by her parents many cruise tours of Italy, Greece and Spain and as a result we saw plenty of polished vacation dressing.
Self Portrait also presented something a little bit more boho and flowy for next summer, while Dion Lee showcased sensual tailoring and super fine lace with some of it being used as stuck on tattoos.
Noon by Noor kept it pretty and feminine with fresh white tones and demure silhouttes, while Jeremy Scott stuck to his wild side with logo plastered separates and sparkling over the knee boots – hello edgy Cinderella.
The highlight belongs to the one and only Ralph Lauren who hosted an extravagant runway and dinner in Central Park to celebrate 50 years of the brand. Every major celeb showed up including Oprah, Priyanka Chopra with fiancé Nick Jonas, Blake Lively, designer Michael Kors and even Hillary Clinton.
“For my 50th anniversary, I wanted to create and share a runway experience that was deeply personal and a summation of the style I’ve always believed in: personal, authentic, and forever, in a place so quintessentially New York and so special to me—Central Park,” said the designer.
Following the runway show, a seated dinner set around Bethesda Fountain transported guests to an elegant Parisian outdoor café, in a setting inspired by the sophisticated yet casual elegance of the courtyard at Ralph’s, Mr. Lauren’s celebrated restaurant on Boulevard Saint-Germain in Paris.
Items from the 50th Anniversary Collection are immediately available at RalphLauren.com and in global flagship stores
Next up was Cartier who celebrated the opening of it’s Fifth Avenue mansion and latest installation Precious Garage. The likes of Zoe Saldana, Lily Collins and Suki Waterhouse were in attendance.
Stay tuned for more news from New York.

Meet Jonathan Rich, Senior Buyer at Moda Operandi Man, who shares with us the designers he’s loving and what it takes to have a timeless wardrobe.
What shift have you seen in the men’s fashion scene?
It’s no longer taboo for men to be interested in fashion. Athletes, musicians and celebrities have raised awareness and made it ‘mainstream’ for men to care about how they dress. The fact that they show NBA and NFL stars walking into games during the pre-game coverage and comment on what they are wearing speaks volumes.
Do you think the sports and streetwear trends are here to stay?
Yes, of course, it will just continue to evolve. Sportswear and streetwear is nothing new; if you look back to 1984/1985 and the release of the Air Jordan 1 that was a huge cultural moment where fashion and streetwear collided.

Which trend do you hope never comes back?
Super skinny jeans for men.

A cashmere overcoat, navy crewneck sweater, perfect worn in denim, Adidas Stan Smiths and a white pocket t-shirt.
Which emerging brands should be on our radar?

What have you learnt about the Middle Eastern consumer so far?
We’ve found that the ME male customer is drawn to the exclusive access we offer via our trunkshow model.
What do you keep in mind when buying for the Moda Operandi Man?
When buying for the M’O Man I keep in mind our intention to be considered a luxury, specialty destination for the most discerning men; one where our clients know they can come to find a highly curated mix of brands and products from all around the world. Most importantly a destination that feels highly personal and customized to each individual’s needs.

Tap Into Your Rebelious Side With Miu Miu Fall 2018 Collection
For the brands Fall 2018 show, the elegant halls of the Perret building in Paris were hung with generic poster-size sheets of white paper, each bearing a highly distinctive, large-scale, monochrome illustration of a female face or body interlaced with a letterform.
This Miu Miu “alphabet” was created for the occasion by M/M Paris in collaboration with Miuccia Prada in order to engage the wider world in a conversation that stretches beyond the immediate fashion show arena.
A “Miu Miu Type” capsule collection of white poplin shirts, cotton hoodies and track pants will be patched with one to three letters, all drawing on the ‘MIU’ of the Miu Miu name. Classic white cotton T-shirts, meanwhile, will be emblazoned with ‘MIU MIU’ spelt out in full in this idiosyncratic and characteristically playful style.
Want to join the conversation? Then head down to the brand’s flagship in the Dubai Mall Fashion Avenue from September 25 armed with your simple white shirt or T-shirt and get it decorated with a single letter of your choice.

Making another step in being a better friend to the planet, Burberry is also stopping a long-term practice of destroying unsold product in a worry that it could be taken and resold at a lower value. According to Business of Fashion, in the last five years the fashion house has destroyed $135 million worth of clothing, accessories and perfume.
Burberry’s Chief Executive, Marco Gobbetti, told the BBC: “Modern luxury means being socially and environmentally responsible. This belief is core to us at Burberry and key to our long-term success. We are committed to applying the same creativity to all parts of Burberry as we do to our products.”

Explore The Richness Of The Bvlgari Heritage Collection
The Roman Brand aims to tell it’s rich story through more than 500 pieces on display, spanning from late 19th century until the 1990s. One of the key pieces to see is the tiara of the 1930s. Never before displayed in public, it is crafted with a beautiful arrangement of aquamarines and diamonds and was worn by Princess Olimpia Torlonia on her wedding day.
Film buffs can’t miss the complete Bvlgari Heritage Collection of jewels that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor. Gaze upon the necklace with 17 incredible Colombian emeralds, or the sautoir featuring a mesmerizing sugar loaf sapphire of more than 60 carats in its pendant.
Remember the Trevi Fountain scene in Dolce Vita? The cabochon sapphires that belonged to Anita Ekberg have also made their way to Moscow for the exhibit.
Another section of the exhibition will showcase the icons of Bvlgari’s creativity as well as pioneering motifs and techniques that subverted the traditional approach to jewellery, gracing dynamic and modern women from day to night.
Emblems of Bvlgari’s talented reinvention of its Roman roots, the pieces on display featuring ancient coins fully convey the Maison’s reverence for the past, expressed with an avant-garde vision. The same visionary attitude led to the introduction of the BVLGARI BVLGARI timepiece in the 1970s, a groundbreaking precursor of the logo-mania pervading fashion in the 1990s.
Finally, the many extraordinary variations of the sinuous Serpenti creations on display, spanning over four decades, illustrate the unceasing stylistic evolution of a Maison that is loyal to its strong identity yet constantly projected into the future. The true partner of a woman who wants to be herself, unconditionally.
BVLGARI. Tribute to Femininity will run until January 13, 2019.

Inspiration
In a statement, the designer said: “ I feel that fashion has somehow lost it’s way a bit and it is easy for all of us to be swept up in trends that have lost touch with what women and men want to actually wear. So I did not want to make clothes that were ironic, or clever but simply clothes that were beautiful.”
Mood
Sensual, glamorous, luxurious and romantic.
Collection
There was plenty of classic black, but it’s the skintone and neautral hues that stood out. “Flesh colours are sensual and have a warmth and humanity that I think that we all crave at the moment. Warm white, powder blue and the palest of lilacs and blush pink are important colours in the collection,” said Ford.
“Fabrics alternate between the softness and romance of lace, chiffon, georgette and even the lightest stretch leather, and the structure of harder leathers and fabrics, and the sheen of fake crocodile. Chiffon, leather and lace play off of each other in this contrast of hard and soft,” he adds.
He played with hard and soft silhouettes and blended them together to create sophisticated ensembles, for example the soft flowing dresses with structured jackets or soft skirts with corseted tops. There’s a sense of vulnerability, but with a determined attitude and of course plenty of after dark glamour when it comes to eveningwear. That feel spilled into the men’s pieces: “Both collections are unified in colour, mood and a certain romance,” he said.
Editors Pick
The boxy fake croc jackets made a statement, but it’s the styling with the headscarves that gave the collection a modern personality.
Menat El Abd, Regional Brow Artist at Benefit Cosmetics, is back with some fool proof tips to get your brows looking flawless for the fashion season.

How to Get Flawless Eyebroaws Every Day
Prep Prep Prep
First step to prepping the brows is waxing them at Benefit Brow Bars, located at Sephora. Let the experts use their brow waxing, mapping and tinting skills to give you polished brows that you can upkeep at home. Tip: during those 3-5 weeks for them to grow, avoid over-plucking too often or too hard.
TLC
Treat your eyebrow hair like the hair on your head by adding BROWVO! Conditioning Primer Nutrient Rich Eyebrow Primer into your daily routine. The formula contains keratin and soy proteins to help brows look fuller, thicker and healthier in just 21 days.
Mind The Gap
You can go ahead and fill in the brows using your favourite brow product – Menat loves using Goof Proof Brow Pencil, to shape the brows nicely. The technique is so simple, you draw in soft hair strokes to create an illusion of fuller brows. Don’t forget to take the spoolie brush and blend any harsh lines for a softer look. If you want to transform the brows later on the day, add a little bit of volume using Gimme Brow+.
Be Gentle
Aftercare is just as important and Menat adds:
“My final and most important tip for maintain your brows’ shape is to be extra gentle and soft while taking off the brow make up with the cotton pad. Grab a cotton pad, soak it in make-up remover then slowly swipe off the product softly. Always make sure you swipe off in the same direction and avoid any friction so you don’t lose any brow hairs.”
Now that your eyebrows are in tip top shape, it’s time to figure out what to wear to the shows.

5 Minutes With Yasmin Al Mulla, Creative Director of YNM Dubai
As a beauty educator, Angélique conducts consistently sold out masterclasses with the vision to empower women through beauty knowledge that she gained through working with brands like Piaget, Guerlain, Laura Mercier and Christian Dior.
What’s the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
As my schedule is so different everyday I often wake up wondering where I’m supposed to be and hoping I’m not late! So generally I check emails, messages and then I’ll get up to start my daily beauty routine.
Three items you can’t live without?
Rodial eyebrow pencil because I can’t face the world without my brows done.
Lip balm. My favorites are Lucas’ Pawpaw Ointment (an Australian cult classic and general cure all) and the little Burt’s Bees tin balm.
Oversized sunglasses. When I can’t deal with a face of makeup on a day off they are the perfect cover up. Huge Céline glasses are my go to.
Complete the sentence: I’m happy when…
I’ve made a client feel more beautiful than she’s ever felt. I don’t think there is anything like doing a job that makes people feel good about themselves and I get to do that everyday. It’s the best.
What do you love the most about your job?
Besides making people feel good, I love that I have complete freedom. I can pick and choose the jobs I take on or when I what to go on holiday. I spent many years in the corporate world before this so I’m grateful for the freedom to be my own boss.
Where do you love to hang out in Dubai?
My party days are definitely behind me and I’m more of a BBQ with friends type but I do like to dress up from time to time and head out for dinner out at STK, La Serre or Play.
What do you do to relax and unwind?
I interact with people 24/7 so I just love to be at home, cooking, reading, listening to music and of course consuming all that Netflix has to offer.
What really annoys you?
People who don’t have basic manners. A man holding a door open for a lady, waiting until people exit the lift before pushing your way in or giving a thank you wave when someone lets you in on the road. It’s these small acts of human kindness that make a difference in society.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Trust the process. Don’t rush things. It will all work out in time. Better than you can even imagine.
Did you have a plan B career path?
I think if I wasn’t a makeup artist I’d be an interior decorator. My Pinterest is all interior inspiration.
Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?
There is someone but I think I’ll play this card close to my chest.
What’s your personal motto?
Just be a good human. It think that best sums it up.
How do you want the world to remember you?
I’ve never considered this question but I’d hope people would remember me as someone who was good to all and had great hair. In all seriousness, I’d say coming from a small city I hope my legacy would be to inspire other girls from small cities / towns to go for their goals and not give up until it’s a reality.
From New York to Paris, travel, lack of sleep and constant need to be camera ready doesn’t give your skin a lot of time to relax.

Guess Which Bad Gal Superstar Is Coming To Dubai
Luckily Net-A-Porter’s Beauty Director Newby Hands, who knows a thing or two about fashion month madness, has some helpful tips to see you through September with a flawless complexion.
Use A Sheet Mask Over Your Makeup For A Quick Refresh
My trick is to use the right mask over my makeup to quickly revive my skin. Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Sheet Mask is amazing for giving weary complexions an incredible glow. And for the eyes I love the 111 Skin Sub Zero eye masks – they’re excellent for de-puffing as they contain an effective anti-inflammatory complex.
Choose A Great Long-Lasting Base
Try Hourglass’s Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation as it contains innovative active ingredients that result in a longwearing and waterproof finish. Concealer (I love Nars) is also essential for extra coverage and wear. My top tip is to finish your base and concealer by using a Kabuki brush to lightly buff all over the face. This gives makeup that seamless and natural finish, making it look like perfect skin as opposed to perfect makeup.
Use Multi-Tasking Products For Ease
Anything that multitasks is a bonus. I’m obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter as it can be used alone on bare skin, as well as under or over makeup. The variety of shades on offer means that you can match the product to your skin tone for a naturally beautiful look. It’s guaranteed to make you glow.
RMS’s Lip2Cheek pots are also great for when you’re on the go. They’re highly pigmented and will instantly flush your lips and cheeks to enhance your look. And when time is short I suggest sleeping in a nourishing face mask like Tata Harper’s new Moisturising Mask, which makes a great deep-treating night cream to replenish and soothe.
Keep Your Skin Hydrated On The Plane
When on the plane ensure you clean your skin first and then hydrate it. The Omorovicza Queen of Hungary mist is great for arid complexions. Face oils are also extremely affective in keeping skin nourished and plump. La Mer’s Renewal Oil and Dr Barbara Sturm’s Hyaluronic Serum are my inflight essentials for locking in moisture.
Improve Your Sleep
If you can stick to even the shortest mini pre-sleep routine it really does make a difference to getting a better night’s sleep, and so helping you switch off the mind and body from a hectic day. First use a sleep spray like this Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray in your bedroom, then use the Aromatherapy Deep Relax Oil in your running bath. And if showering, I recommend rubbing the oil into your chest before jumping in – I think it’s the best sleep oil on the market. Additionally, De Mamiel offer an incredible ‘Sleep Series’ of products which help with all insomnia issues.

Regional Exclusive: François Demachy On Dior’s New Fragrance
After years of research and development, the brand unveiled their new, natural and advanced skin care range: The Ritual of Namasté. We were invited to the presentation and to test some of the 36 products that are not only vegan friendly, but are also packaged in sustainable bottles that look really lux.
The five lines – Glow, Purify, Hydrate, Ageless and Sensitive: were created to meet individual skin care needs, so you are guaranteed to find the combination that works for you.
We tested the Glow range that included the Radiance cleansing balm, anti-aging day cream, serum, face oil, renewing aha glow mask and ampoule boosters. Designed to fight the first signs of aging, these help minimize the appearance of fine lines and restores radiance.
The balm, that contains almond and olive oils, glided onto the skin and gently cleansed away makeup and impurities leaving a smooth layer. We then combined half of the concentrated fluid from the ampoule, that is meant to boost your complexion with moisture, with three drops of the serum that works to restore the natural skin barrier.
To calm the skin, we added a couple of drops of the Radiance Oil packed with all the goodness of jojoba oil and almond oils for firmness into the moisturiser that works hard to improve elasticity.
What we loved is the textures, the ability to mix and match products to work for your skin type (you can also add oil, serums or ampoules to the mask) and the recyclable packaging – especially the refillable cream capsules.
The two years of development have not gone to waste and Rituals have ticked the boxes for us when it comes to naturally good skin and doing our part for the wellbeing of the planet. Namaste.

Style Hits: The Venice Film Festival 2018
All-Star Cast at Miu Miu Resort 2019 Show
About the marital setting of her new Miu Miu film, Al- Mansour believes that, “weddings are the actual mirror of society in Saudi Arabia: segregated, fragmented, along gender and class. I wanted to tell the story of those people, and capture that tenderness.”
“It’s very important for women to tell their stories. And sometimes it’s hard.” In this new story, the singer’s young daughter is the unlikely heroine. She ignores the other girls’ scornful judgment, and instead uses her nimble mind, just like an independent film-director. “For me, the little girl represents the future, and the future belongs to outsiders.”
Based in Los Angeles, Haifaa Al-Mansour is considered the first female Saudi filmmaker. Her debut feature, Wadjda (2013) was a breakout hit, and the first ever foreign-language Oscar entry from Saudi Arabia.
As the country undergoes unprecedented cultural reform, which has recently seen women be given the right to drive and the first cinemas open to the public, Al-Mansour’s next film, The Perfect Candidate, will be the first feature to be supported by the new national Saudi Film Council.
To celebrate the one year anniversary of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna, the singer unveils two new diamond inspired products.

Morning Coffee With… Performance Coach Blake Sergeant
Your New Season Wardrobe By Moda Operandi’s Style Guru
Where is the love?
If your feelings for the current role are not the same as they used to be, don’t be disheartened, it’s common to lose passion. What you need to do is remember why you chose it in the first place and trace where you think it changed. Could it be a disagreement with a colleague or not getting the project you wanted? Talk to your superior and see if anything can be adjusted.
List It
If you are having a low, make a list of all the pros and cons to your current role and then try to analyse what will have to change for you to feel content. If it’s an issue of pay, what would need to be adjusted for you to be happy with the current salary?
Speak Up
If you have a point to make – do it. Sometimes playing it safe is even more detrimental than speaking your mind and having people disagree. Once you showcase your value, your confidence will grow and you might finally get that raise or opportunity you’ve been working towards.
Hold the Door
Grass isn’t always greener on the other side, but researching other roles can actually highlight how good you have it now. Or, it can help you see what skills you need to improve on so when you do finally feel it’s time to move on, you are armed with everything you need. But we suggest giving it another six months before handing in your notice.
Don’t Burn Bridges
If your role has ran it’s course and you have found the next opportunity, leave your current job on a good note because you never know when your colleague, or even your boss, could be a help in hand.
Gigi Hadid and Valérie Messika have collaborated on a second collection for the jewellery house.
Named My Soul, the new range is a departure from the punk rock vibe of last year’s edition in favour of a bohemian romance, with pieces that are designed for layering and stacking.

It is a reflection of two strong personalities and it’s pieces are both sensual and ultra-wearable. Inspired by fashion-hippie styles, these pieces settle over the skin like ornate tattoos – ideal for day to night.
“For this second collection, Gigi knew exactly what she wanted,” said Valerie Messika. “She created a number of highly precise moodboards, which formed the basis of our creative process. She was the orchestra’s conductor, providing artistic direction for these ideas as I sought to bring my diamond expertise and the Messika values to her dream jewellery.”
Through the vibrancy of gold, fluidity of chains and an ergonomic comfort when worn, the two friends have worked the diamonds into drops of light faithful to the “mix & match” signature of Maison Messika.
My Soul will be available exclusively on Net-A-PORTER from September 12, followed by Messika.com and Messika boutiques from September 29.

Morning Coffee With… Andraya Farrag, Founder of Bedouin
Morning Coffee With… Kamilla Omarzay, Founder of the Snack Society
What’s the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
Meditate! Mediation ‘showers’ my brain and then reading my desire statement focuses my brain (my Reticular Activating system) on what I want.
Three items you can’t live without?
My coffee filter (Aed6 from Daiso), my phone – it has all my audible books on – and my laptop. Ironically, it provides me with total freedom
Complete the sentence: I’m happy when…
Interacting with others. Work, sport or social.
What do you love the most about your job?
My success comes from making others more successful, it’s a total win win.
Where do you love to hang out in Dubai?
It’s more about ‘who’ than ‘where’ for me. I’m happy at home, a golf course, by a pool, in a restaurant or a bar.
What do you do to relax and unwind?
I cook, listen to music and clear my mind of work completely.
What really annoys you?
Fast food companies sponsoring elite sports events. What message does that send? And then we wonder why the world is experiencing a health crisis.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Stay committed and be patient.
Did you have a plan B career path?
I’m already half way through the alphabet! Plan A – School, university, millionaire by 30, wasn’t as bullet proof as I was led to believe. Now my plan is to constantly evolve, stay true to my mission and show up as the best me every day.
Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?
Sienna Miller.
What’s your personal motto?
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication – I stole that from Davinci
How do you want the world to remember you?
He lived his potential by helping others to live theirs, helped make personal development mainstream and helped change the education system. And, he was incredibly handsome, funny and charming – but that may be a step too far.
Celebrities have been wowing the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival 2018.

Haute Couture FW18: Valentino
Five Classic Fashion Pieces That You’ll Wear Forever
From Dakota Johnson stepping out in a scarlet red gown from Dior Couture, to Lady Gaga making everyone aflutter with feathery Valentino, there’s plenty of razzle and dazzle to admire as A-Listers promote their films.
Click through the gallery above to see who made the A&E style list.
The Spring 2019 season of Haute Couture in Paris kicks off on January 21, promising four days of the finest craftsmanship from leading designers around the world.
What makes this edition extra special is the number of Arab designers representing the beauty and creative talent from the region.
Among the usual suspects, there is a new name that you should have on your radar – Maison Rabih Kayrouz. This will be the first outing on the main couture stage for the Lebanese designer, despite being elected as a guest designer two years ago to show Spring 2018 line.
He founded the label in 1998 in Beirut, but by 2009 he moved his operations to Paris to continue working on his signature pieces that normally incorporate clean lines and precise cuts. He excels when working with structural proportions as well as bold solid colours, so we expect his signatures to be even more dramatized during his couture show on January 21.
“I believe in couture as a means of expression,” the designer told Fashionista. “It’s free, it’s about emotion, about dreaming. When I make ready-to-wear, I keep the emotion and dreamy aspect of couture. I’ve always wanted to create for the pleasure of women, I love that clothes can be either protective or seducing, and when women play different roles.”
Lebanese-Italian designer Tony Ward will also be showing on January 21, and we expecting another fairy tale extravaganza from Georges Hobeika who will be staging his collection at Paris’s National Theater of Chaillot.
Embroidery, organza and lace will flood the runway when Deny Atrache presents his vision for Spring 2019. Rami Kadi is switching it up from a presentation to a runway this season and we are predicting red-carpet worthy gowns.
On everyone’s calendar is Elie Saab who will show on January 23 and on that day we will also enjoy Zuhair Murad. Following last year’s collection inspired by Imperial Russia, can we look forward to another royal outing? To round off the shows, Rami Al Ali and Azzi & Osta are scheduled for January 24.
Are you ready for the new season? Let Elizabeth Leventhal, General Merchandising Manager of Ready-to-Wear at Moda Operandi, be your style guide.
Will you go West and embrace the cowboy boots, or is your big winter purchase going to a fabulous coat? Below, Leventhal shares her wardrobe staples, and reveals the brands from the Middle East that are on her radar.

Men’s New Season Bag Edit
How Moda Operandi is Nurturing Middle Eastern Designers
What do you look for when buying for the new season?
We focus on investing in product that will cater to our customers constant craving for discovery and something unique; we are always keeping our eyes peeled for creativity and originality from emerging talent from all over the world.
I also always pay attention to the buzz (on social and in real life) during market and fashion month to stay in tune with what editors and influencers are loving.
How are you transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall?
For me, fall is all about layering. I like to transition my wardrobe by adding a few key outerwear pieces, investing in knitwear that pops or layers over a summer dress easily, and adding new boots that will get me around the city with ease. This season, it’s all about the cinched blazer, my go-to Margiela ankle boots and rustic plaids.
Balmain jacket, Frame Denim jeans, Victoria Beckham skirt, Markarian dress, Back
Dorothee Schumacher jumper, Rochas boots.
Which FW18 trends do you think will split opinions?
I love that the Western boot is making a sartorial comeback this season because it reminds me of my southern roots. But they can be tricky to pull-off when styling. I think it’s one of those trends — you either love it or leave it.
What should we be investing in now?
September is the perfect time to invest in a beautiful coat. Living in New York and always being on-the-go, my coat is usually the first thing people see, so I love to pick a style that I won’t tire of and one that also keeps me warm. You can never go wrong with a classic from Max Mara or to make more of a statement the leopard Victoria Beckham is a must have. I also love Rosie Assoulin, Loewe, and Brock for interesting outerwear. Statement boots are huge this season in a range of textures, from custom embroidery and sequins, to floral-print and velvet.
Describe your personal style.
My style has definitely evolved over the years as I have become a mother of two (ease is essential!), but I would say overall, my look is generally relaxed, timeless, and a touch bohemian. When it comes to a night out, I love to get glam and dress up in a structured power-suit, or silky slip dress.
Which emerging designers are you championing at the moment?
We’re always on the lookout to add new and emerging designers to the Moda portfolio. My favorites at the moment are Alexandra O’Neill from Markarian (a Moda exclusive), The Vampire’s Wife and Deitas.
How has the fashion scene changed since you’ve worked as a buyer?
We’ve seen a major shift in the traditional buying business model. Because we’re constantly connected and living in such a fast-paced digital world, the way we shop has evolved. At Moda, our pre-order trunkshow model gives customers the ability to buy from unedited collections straight from the runway, which gives our customers not only the access to these collections but essentially allowing them to be a buyer themselves. We, of course, have an incredibly talented stylist team who can help curate and edit your wardrobe for you, if that’s also needed. Also, convenience has become an essential service demanded from consumers– you need something in a few hours, we can deliver it to your doorstep.
What do new designers need to do to stand out?
What excites me the most when I meet new designers, and what I think elevates them to the next level, is when I can instinctually sense the story behind their collections. Distinct storytelling means it will usually resonate with our customers.
Are there any names from the Middle East that you love?
At Moda we’re constantly drawn to talented designers from around the world. From the Middle East, Dubai-based designer, Anatomi, is a go-to for silhouettes that are timeless with a modern take. We also like how All Things Mochi’s designer Ayah Tabari creates wardrobe staples in charismatic patterns and eccentric colours that transition from day to night.
Finish this sentence. Style means…
Style is innate and represents how we want to be seen to the world. It’s about evolving, taking risks and most importantly, having fun!
Biggest fashion regret?
I don’t believe in fashion regrets!
If you could only keep three items in your wardrobe, what would you choose?
A timeless black blazer, a pair of go-to denim (I love a good high-waist pair by Frame), and a classic white blouse.
