Burberry Presents Its Spring/Summer 2023 Collection

Burberry presented its rescheduled Spring/Summer 2023 show in London on 26th September 2022.

Drawing inspiration from the British seaside the all-inclusive collection saw the brand move perhaps the furthest away from its classic trend coats and check prints to an elegant and alluring offering.

“This season, we explored a new sensuality – a consciousness of the body. I was inspired by the liberation and openness of youth, of people embracing their bodies and revealing them – a pride in themselves, who they are, their identities. Their freedom. This feels modern, this feels right, and this feels Burberry.” explained Riccardo Tisci, Chief Creative Officer.

Tisci’s connection to the seaside wasn’t so much the landscape and scenery but the cosmopolitan array of people that you find in British seaside towns. He honoured those that feel free to express their individuality and dress in a way that is without boundaries, and so very British.

Some classics such as double denim, appear throughout, and the trench makes an appearance, albeit an understated one. There is plenty of layering, bold silhouettes and an independent British attitude throughout.

Riccardo Tisci called upon some of his celebrity friends who were both on and off the runway for the London presentation. Kanye West made a special appearance on the FROW and Naomi Campbell, Irina Shayk and Bella Hadid made their way down the runway.

The show was accompanied by soprano opera singer Nadine Sierra and the London Contemporary Orchestra, performing a specially commissioned piece by Paul Mealor.
