All aboard! For Chanel Cruise’19, Karl Lagerfeld transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into a life-size Chanel liner named after Coco’s summer house on the French Riviera ‘La Pausa’.
He never fails to disappoint. This is a moment we have long awaited, well to a see a real cruise collection at La Pausa built in the 1930s in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin; where the maison renovated the a fews years ago. Without any hesitations, as usual Karl brought the whole entire French Riviera spirit to the Grand Palais.
This is every Chanel woman’s dream, who want to hop onto their yachts and say goodbye to responsibilities as they head to the South of France for the summer. Perfect for the warmer weather, the collection features light cropped tweed jackets, super chic. Including crisp white tights worn underneath puff-sleeve shoulder mini dresses, some were layered and others were detailed with gleaming sequins. And of course including the house’s best signatures- tweed, sailor pants, pearls and quilting.
We also see oversized double C’s hanging from the model’s necks as they pranced down the runway in lovely Mary-Jane’s. There was a parade of berets, nautical striped pants and lots of classic motifs inspired by the 1930s stroll along the harbour.
It wasn’t just nostalgic but it gave us a strong tase of summer romance. How else would you do cruise? And Lagerfeld has always done best, one who took us on the most glamorous adventures across the world.
