Prada’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection looks at the idea of seduction and the way it can be expressed through clothing.

Designed by Co-Creative Directors Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada the collection, which was presented this week, offered a more feminine and playful approach than we have seen in recent seasons.

The show was presented simultaneously in Milan and Shanghai with two mirror image shows taking place in both destinations as audiences also watched from across the globe through their screens, bringing together this modern community in a unique format.

The collection itself was feminine and wearable. Pieces were designed to trace the ideas and outlines of clothing, as clothing was stripped back to its basics and its relationship with the body examined.

A colour palette that sees black at the base tone with flashes of red, orange and yellow and the occasional pastel tone. Hemlines were mostly super short, while fitted skirts and dresses fell around the ankle.

Leather was a key element in this offering with the classic biker jacket making a comeback in its traditional cropped form or a long floor-length version.

Evening wear elements such as lace and satin were applied to more casual garments, translating them into the every day and the traditional train was prominent throughout the collection as it appeared as a single piece of couture silk.

While elegant and wearable this collection sparked elements of fantasy, just a hint of glamour for the everyday woman who doesn’t want to lose her sparkle.
