Paris Fashion Week: Dior Spring/Summer 2022

Dior kicked off Paris Fashion Week today, presenting its Spring/Summer 2022 collection in one of the biggest shows of the season.

Maria Grazia Chiuri was inspired by the sixties era and in particular, she referenced Marc Bonhan’s period as Creative Director at Dior and the Slim Look collection of 1961 that completely changed the fashion industry.

Revisiting the fashion of this time Chiuri was inspired by the graphic prints, sharp silhouettes and experimental nature of the swinging sixties.

A bold and bright colour palette consisted of yellow, red, green, navy, orange and raspberry, offering a playful and joyous approach to style. This was truly the colour we all need in our lives!

Jackets were reinvented with boxy cuts, and coats, skirts, Bermuda shorts and dresses were combined and layered in multiple ways in a series of contrasts.

A selection of designs produced in 3D embroidery is enhanced by a textured visual effect, while the choice of materials was light-hearted and playful: scuba and nylon reinterpret volumes for a contemporary twist on sixties style.

The collection exudes freedom, fun and happiness and sets the tone for what we expect of this season.
