Virgil Abloh has designed a capsule collection with Nike for Serena Williams return to the U.S Open tennis championship.
Off-White designer and Louis Vuitton artistic director worked with Serena Williams to create functional sports pieces inspired by her love of ballet and dance.
“With Serena, we have one of our generation’s most powerful, inspiring athletes as the muse,” said Abloh in a statement. “I was trying to embody her spirit and bring something compelling and fresh to tennis.”
Williams, who is known for her bold fashion statements on and off the court, will be making her return to the U.S Open stage for it’s 50th edition later on this month dressed in The Queen Collection.
The pieces include white and black one shoulder dresses with tulle skirts, a leather jacket, and three sneaker styles. All carry signature Off-White motifs throughout including words like ‘logo’ placed above the Nike tick, and special edition of the NikeCourt Flare 2 sneaker with “Serena” on the outer sole.
“What I love about tennis is the gracefulness. It’s an aggressive and powerful game, but it takes touch and finesse,” Abloh added.
Want to embody the athletic spirit of Serena Williams? The dress, jacket and two OF The Ten sneaker styles will be available to shop at select Nike locations later this month.
