From today, you can head down to Raffles Hotel Dubai to see the world’s most expensive pair of shoes.
Created by celebrity Haute Couture designer turned caketress Debbie Wingham for a special client in the region, the diamond decorated high-heel sandals are worth Dhs55 million and will be on display to admire until Friday.
Slight downside? They are not for wearing but there is a good, or a few good reasons, for that. The unique piece of art boasts 24-carat gold stitching and over 1,000 diamonds set in platinum, including two three-carat pink diamonds, valued at Dhs16.2 million each, two blue diamonds of one carat, worth Dhs7 million each, and four flawless clarity three-carat white diamonds. They are made for display, rather than to strut down the street in, no matter how tempting that might be.
Now that’s a sparkling way for the five-star hotel to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
